Matching RAM modules on 865PE chipset mobos

Does anyone know or have experience matching DDR memory modules of possibly varying speeds and manufacturers on dual channel chipset motherboards, especially the new 865PE? Right now, I have 512mb of Samsung PC2700, so if I buy another 512mb module of say mushkin or crucial would these modules work fine w/ the samsung or is it advisable to purchase totally identical modules (In my case, another 512mb of Samsung PC2700)? Also, lets say I buy a PC3200 module, am I correct in assuming that it will work fine underclocked to PC2700 speeds? I remember reading in Anand's review that the new 865 chipset is especially picky with running dual channel DDR400. Is this also the case with DDR333?

My understanding is that you need to get memory with identical chip layout (those 32x64 types of numbers) and it's good to get the same CAS timing (though I think they'll run at the highest setting). To achieve both of these, you'd probably be looking to get the same speed and same size memory.... with the same manufacturer being the easiest way to do that.

This is just my take on this, I'm still waiting on my P4P800.
