Matching subwoofer necessary?

today i finally upgraded to 5 klipsch speakers minus the subwoofer. is it necessary to buy a klipsch subwoofer as well for the best sound quality? if not, what subwoofer would you recomend?

Subwoofer matching doesn't really matter much.

Their RSW-15 no question. For one thing it would be color matching. Secondly 2400 watts of power would bash anything in its path to rubble

There are a lot of offerings that could do significantly mor low end damage than it for a similar price :evil:

From that good read (thx yo yo) now I say go for the SVC CS-Ultra. You wouldn't be disappointed, I'm sure, And then you could stick it in your car and beat people with big car stereos . I sure wish I had that one. I only have a simple Ported Pioneer 100watt sub. At around 30Hz there is 0 port noise. Any other Hz and port noise kicks in.

I know this is a bit over budget, but
SVS PB10
or
HSU STF-2

are highly recommended ones. Edge going to SVS for HT, HSU for music.

If a matching Klipsch sub fits in your budget, nothing wrong with that (especially if you can get a discount on package pricing).

Another sub in this range to look at would be a JBL e250.

Dual dayton 12" subs would be another possibility.

How big is the room you're in? You have very efficient speakers so they should do a good job filling even a fairly large room. It would be a shame to not have a sub to keep up.

If he can get an CS ultra set going for $300 count me in too :evil:

I have personally tried the RSW-15. While very powerful and lots of low end extension, the definition has something more to be desired from. The SVS and HSu subs are great values and are good for both music and movies. Velodyne subs are also good. If you are a DIY kind of guy, you can buy one of those Partsexpress kits.
