1) What are the main advantages of the G550 over the G450, besides HeadCasting technologies and a somewhat crippled T&L engine.

2) Does the G550 have any improvements for DVD decoding, like those on ATI's products.

I've got questions, also.

With the thresh hold that you"matrox" hold on the Business card market, and the way you've been handling the DV editors market. Where do you see yourself in the consumer market as far as soundcards and videocard development?

Nvidia holds the Higherend of the Conusmer graphics market, ATi has the medium solution with Radeon64VIVO for under 200 dollars, and STmicro/Imagination technology has the lower end solutions covered and plan on making a move to the Higher end against Nvidia with Kyro3. Which part of this market will you re-enter in the upcoming quarters?

You've also use the Tilebased Rendering method on the M3D cards some years back, will there be a chance or thought as to that solution being used on an upcoming card? or some sort of joint venture with Matorx engineers and STmicro engineers colaborating on a exclusive and extensive method as to counter acting memory bandwidth?

Why bother even releasing a new card? It seems as though they could have taken the G450 and added all that 3D head crap to it. They would have named that G450 Special 3D Head edition and be done with it.

This is really a disappointment, even though I really liked my G400... this card offers little advantages!

You should ask what direction they are trying to head with these cards. For example, digital video editing?

Oh, and PLEASE PLEASE do something about the 3D Market! you know you want to!

Is the G550 going to be part of the RT2000 package? Will they have WinXP drivers ready for its release date?

Their engineers haven't been on vacation -- they went to work for Nvidia!

Seriously, they had some brain-drain there from what I read awhile ago.

As for the first question, this is a limitation of the OpenGL API. It does not allow the output of two displays from one video card in hardware accelerated mode. This is not Matrox's fault. NVIDIA and ATI have the same problems. Maybe they can do a work around like they did for the Windows 2000 issue with dual monitors and having to run them both at the same resolution. You never know. Some OpenGL applications will work in dual monitor mode but the second display will only work in software mode, not hardware mode.

As for your second question, some software DVD players coming out support dual monitors so you won't have to force your video card to run in single monitor mode. This was all a issue with Macrovision protection. I don't know which software dvd player you are using but if you use one of the newer builds, it should support dual monitor video cards like the Matrox.

My question would be when are they going to make their hardware compatible with Pentium 4 systems. I have a Matrox RT2500 but it will not work with Pentium 4 systems.

Sure, ask them what the hell happened to the W2K video capture drivers ! That should make 'em blush. Never mind the Win9X video tools that STILL aren't working properly and have now been abandoned.

OMFG, has anyone been back to the matrox site today? They have a talking head when you enter the site using the HeadCasting technology, LMFAO, i almost sheeeted my pants i didn't know what the hell was going on,

Ask them if the 550 is news? Matrox is the PT Cruiser of graphics cards, Looks great but no Balls. In fact its the Graphics card for bald guys....
