You've also got to remeber that vid cards is just one part of Matrox. They don't need to make the latest and greatest to survive like ATi or Nvidia. I still think Matrox's "dualhead" software is the best dual monitor software out there.

I agree with Lethal.
Its easy for you to challenge their 2D, but try challenging their implementation of eDualhead management and driver stability under windows(can't speak for Linux yet, i have some testing to do) along with top tech support and then the "small" competition trying to challenge them will exit the door they came in.

Also Matrox provides this solution @ a small cost of under 100 U.S. dollars.
The G550 has its reason for being released. It supports they're DX8 HeadCasting technology. Its not the best thing slice bread but atleast they tried. Also i beleive the 550 offers 2nd monitor support @ 1600x1200 for DVi output than the previous release by them.

Those Stock market monitors i believe are built around appian(matrox's U.S. competition) hydravision based cards. Thier cards support a vast amount of multiple monitor solution for those types of business'.

Skace,

<< How can you have room for 4 monitors but not another case. Monitors take up tons of room while cases take up hardly any >>

You can put 2, 3, 4, possibly more flat panel LCD monitors on a single stand. In my wife's office, everyone except the secretarial staff have 2 monitors on 1 stand. If you need to follow multiple markets, 4 screens on 1 stand is the way to go. I recall that you can buy these monitors from Dell. Search under 'mass mutiples' at the Dell site.

I personally would love to have dual monitors.

From what I read, cant you use up to like 5 G-XXX's in one system? for up to 10 monitors?

having 2 G450's (one PCI, one AGP) would be a lot cheaper than their Quad cards. wouldn't it?

doesen't it offer similar functionality?

<< Keep an open mind guys. $700 can be much less expensive than getting another network connection for that second PC, or paying an IT dept to figure out how to make those two PC's reliably and quickly share the same data. Some custom applications (like the stock broker software) is written specifically for the quad card. It wont work with two computers.
In business, the simplest solution is always the cheapest in the long run.

I couldn't of said it better myself!
