I have a King Koil, and I am very happy with it.

It is about 10 years old now and is holding up very well.

It was in their upper middle range, with a 10 year non-prorated warrantee; I paid around $475 for the queen set. As far as I know, King Koil is a fairly big name brand, at least here in the North East.

Unfortunately, comparison shopping for mattresses is very difficult because the same item will have a different name, model number, fabric, etc. at each store/chain. Features and warrantee are probably the best way to try to compare "apples to apples" at least within a single manufacturer.

Like the other posters have mentioned, do not be afraid to haggle.

From my personal experiences:

"Free Delivery" = ~$50 off if you offer to pick up the mattress yourself.
Floor Model, that is basically just like new = ~40%+ off. (ask a salesperson what is available, they are constantly rotating these off the floor.)
Just asking for a discount = at least 10%+
If they are tight on giving cash off, ask for a free frame (or other accessories)

Good Luck.

Arright....finally someone who has had some experience with King Koil.

I did check this particular King Koil mattress...queen set .......with a viscous memory foam pillowtop...cant remember much of the other bells and whistles ... price quoted since I didnt have a mattress to take out was 750...

The thing is that I have seen King Koil being advertised quite so much as the other regular brands such as Sealy, Simmons, Serta and Spring Air. I liked the feel of the mattress when I lay on it; but I have heard horror stories of the fact that viscous memory foam dosent breathe and hence it can be quite warm laying on these kind of mattresses.

I don't have the foam top, so I can't comment on that, but I would not worry about the King Koil brand.

According to their Website they have been around since 1898, which means they must be doing something right.

They are probably a little more price competitive since they don't advertise as much.

Is this true? Do all stores have this book? Does anyone here have it?

That's neat, if it really has all the Sealy names. Is there anything like this for Serta?

Speaking of King Koil, that's mainly what one of the guys around here sells that advertises all in the classifieds as 'still in the plastic'. What's with these guys filling up the classifieds with their ads? And when I first went to check it out last year, this guy, telling me it usually sells for blah blah, quoted me a price of a King Koil that was much higher than what the mattress even lists for (I called King Koil). This guy sells out of a building that either used to be something else (& still has the old sign), or it's just a front. Both times I talked to him, which were like a year apart, he said he had a friend in another city across the state that had just come across a good deal on mattresses, so he's helping him get rid of them. He became a real azzhole when I told him about calling King Koil. I noticed there are a few other sellers like this advertising in the classifieds now too. It all seems fishy to me. Reminds me of the guys in the vans selling speakers.

I bought a Sealy about 1 month ago. We had our other Sealy for 13 years and it served us well. We settled on a king this time, paid a tidy sum ($1500) for it and it is worth every penny. I like you went everywhere..I just bit the bullet. I am very happy with it.....
