I think i'm one of the few who actually like my mx6... minus the not so reliable engine... but i like the styling and handling... for a car that's not classified as sport.. and keeps the insurance down

My old 1976 Mazda Cosmo was able to get nearly 300 HP from its 1.3 litre Rotary engine (without turbocharging - of course no smog either - at 10,000 RPM).

Have you seen the doors?

There is no center pillar. Can you imagin what would happen in a side impact? Seems strange that safety is so ignored in a sports car.

Apart from that though it should be damn sweet. I think I liked the look of the older one a bit better though, more "slippery" looking.

Amen EngineNr9. Most of these new models really are starting to look pretty nasty and the RX-8 is no exception. Hell, even the new BMWs are starting to go downhill for styling.

There are some exceptions though. Forget the model name, but Toyota is starting the retro body style again. They are coming out with a sedan that looks like a mid 60's Chevy Impala at 7/8 scale.

Tend to agree, I saw the show cars of the RX8 in a magazine over a year ago and preferred the Gen 3 RX7's. I think with this one they're marketing toward the Mercede SLK/Lexus SC buyer, fast coupes, although this has the 3/4 door pillarless styling. Makes me think even more that they have the nerve to call it a sports car ?
