Hello everyone,

I recently bought a maximus v formula m/b. The problem I have is that sometimes when I open or restart my pc, the motherboard beeps, and then nothing happens. I have a q code A0 and a led that is on which says about VGA.

I have disabled the igpu from the bios. What can be the problem? I also have a 7970 Ghz.

According to the user manual code A0 is "IDE initialization is started" so it sounds like it's getting stuck on that portion of the boot when that occurs. The VGA LED applies to both the iGPU and addon cards so your video card could be the cause of the issues somehow. We need more information on your system though to continue figuring out what the issue might be.

The rest of my system is xfx 750w pro psu, 8GB (2x4GB) Ram, 2 HDD and 2 optical drives. When it boots in system, sometimes it doesn't recognize the card, it says Microsoft basic display adapter, in device manager. The A0 code exists even when the windows are fully booted.

somethings to try
-set it to boot to pci-e ,not auto
-remount the 7970 ,use different power connectors to it.
-plug the 4 pin molex for the pci-e power [bottom of board]
-doesn't help , then default the bios and reset it.should show up in the bios , then check windows again ,new windows install or from a nv system [hd]
-was it a working card or new ?
-or you check the rog forums if you still think it's the mobo causing the problem

I've done all the above, even a bios update.. It seems that the problem is solved, but because it did it again, to be all ok, in the past I will wait a little

nope, it did it again. Can't get it. How it can run the graphics card on one run while it can't on the other?

where can it be the problem?

I've noticed that when I power off the pc, and not do it a restart the card works ok. Maybe this will help to find out what's happening.

To sum up the thing is. When I open the pc sometimes it works ok, I can also play games. When I restart the system, the things get nasty.

In the device manager the primary display adapter is stated as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". While on bios the card is recognized normally. I also tried to disable microsoft's basic display adapter with no resaults.

The other thing that i noticed when I was formatting my pc, is that when I was not connected to the internet till the first time, all the resets I've done to pc were not having the problem. When I connected it for the first time an unknown device was installed and then it happened.

Now the pc works with the card normally when I am lucky. Can't understand the problem.

Can anyone tell me if I can see the devices which were installed recently so I can disable it?
