Maxtor 120 Gb w/ 8 Mb cache for 79.99 after MIR at Best Buy

I went in tonight to buy some other things at Best Buy and was looking around and found the Maxtor 120 Gb w/ 8 Mb cache for $149.99 with a $40 and a $30 MIR. Pretty good deal for a decent hard drive. No price matching needed.

Can we PM BB's price to Staples price and still apply the $40 and $30 MIR?

Bought this Maxtor 120Gb/8mb drive at my local Best Buy tonight for $139.99 with $40 and $30 rebates (so net $70 after rebates). I'm happy with that...

Staples may not price match Best Buy AR price, but if the Maxtor is listed in the Staples ad for $129, then buy the drive at Best Buy, and then return with the Staples ad for a refund. Best Buy still has their 30 day price guaruntee so you will get it at $129 with the two rebates ($59 AR not bad).

Could Best Buy BE any more screwed up. They have a $20 rebate shown here that, when you look at it, says $50 not $20. It also shows as store only but the rebate form says that online rebate forms are for online purchases only.

So this rebate is either for $20 or $50 and for online purchase only or in store purchase only. Clear as mud to me.

$80 / 120GB = $0.67
$100 / 160GB = $0.63

i guess it's not that big of a difference.
but i'd personally suggest on WD's 160...
you get an ide card as well for an extra $20

Personally, I got the Maxtor 160 at Office Depot, which came out to 80 bucks + tax after $50 rebate and after coupon. 33% more storage at similar cost

I picked up the last one in stock at my local BB yesterday. The price rang up as $129 and it printed 2 rebates for $30 each. I think BB quit giving the $50 rebate when the lowered the price. The only link on BB website shows only the 2 $30 rebates. At $69, thats $0.58/GB. Amazing.

I noticed the same thing. I picked up two this morning and there were only a few left in the Cary, NC, store. I'm gonna send in the $50 rebate (snagged that before it was removed) in addition to these rebates. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll honor it.

there was another post on here about this drive being $130 - $70 in rebates at BB b&m. I went there Tuesday and saw that it was indeed this price...probably to pm Staples price.

Yah there as a long 6 page thread on the original deal that seems to have gotten deleted. Anyone have any idea why that thread was censored (not like there really needs to be a reason to censor threads around here)? It had a lot of good useful links to rebates and whatnot.
