Yea, both BB stores I went to in Orange County, CA had it for $149.99 - $50 MIR.
The Westminister store is sold out, and I grabbed the last one at the Costa Mesa store (may have some left in cabinets, but I don't know).

Total came out to be $145.45 with the 10% off coupon.... MAKE SURE it's $145.45 and not $150 something if you use the 10% off coupon... The computer is ringing up the 10% coupon as $10 off instead of 10% off if they scan the coupon. I had to argue like 5 minutes with the guy to get the right discount.

I was up to it, so I attempted a PM at Staples, same result as last time. We played the instock game; I won, I live near 3 BB's. Then we played the price game; I BB had the drive at 189 plus $50 MIR and the other 2 had it at 149 plus 50 MIR. There final word was since the PM was greater than $100 dollars, the corporate office have to make the decision and I would get a call back within 48 hours. Staples sucks at abiding by their own policies. Well I will have to wait and see if I get the 2 drives I ordered. I also got one from BB! Let's RAID!!!!!!!!!! If all goes well this is what I would pay for 2 drives:

2 120 meg 8mb cache Drives $179.98
TAX $ 8.10
TOTAL $188.08

If they approve it I will try to use a coupon!

Well, since everyone seems to be getting this deal but me, I guess I'll be checking a different BB B&M tomorrow. Either I'll get the deal, or I'll just have to return it until a better deal comes along. They always do.

LoL, sorry Case rocks though doesn't it??

I haven't been able to find a comparison between the WD SE and the Maxtor Ultras, but by comparing between different reviews, it seems as if the Maxtor's are slightly faster b/c of 80GB platters.

Here's a review of some early 80GB Maxtor's which do quite well compared to the WD SE.

New Maxtor 80GB Platter HDD's review

Keep in mind they are using the 2 MB cache "L" DM+ 9's. I'm waiting for Part 4 of their HDD round-up, as it should feature the DM 9+ Ultras (8MB cache), but I've seen comments from owners of both the SE and Ultras who have said the Maxtor Ultras are faster.

I'll tell you now, it's better than the WD SE I have them and it's pure GOLD. No benches but you have to trust me on that.

If I can find the right magazine (with a 10% off) I guess I'll pick one up tomorrow. I was kicking myself for missing the WD 100GB deal, but this sounds better.. I'm starting to put together a new system and this will fit in nice. Now I need a HOT video card deal.
