Hahaha, Hitachi gives a few years of warranty that doesn't mean the drive is good. I use Maxtor drives for years and never fail on me. And Maxtor drives are so quiet, you gotta love them

Fine print of $10 off $40 coupon reads:

"Minimum purchase of $40 must be met with purchases to which no other coupon or instant savings offer applies."

But Staples does honor competitor coupons...

YMMV

Picked it up this morning, -$10 off $40 from the email coupon. Fine print exists, but they didn't seem to care or even notice.

Just picked one of these up locally. Used a $10.00 off $40.00 to make it $59.94 also they had both ATA and SATA drives and both were $69.94.

I bought one today. I used the 10 off 40. Can I use the 10 off 40 again, or is that number gone now?

Need another for a ReplayTV.

Most likely the code is a one time use code, so the coupon is probably no longer good. I could be wrong though. You'll have to try to see if it works. Or just add some filler to get over $75 and use this $15 off $75 coupon.

I got the Maxtor today and used the $15 off $75 bought $5.00 worth of filler. I actually noticed that the $69.99 price wasn't a rebate or instant saving or even an easy rebate. On the shelf was the old price of $99.00 so the guy told me the new price wasn't posted yet, but I did see the tag laying on the shelf and it said "NEW LOW PRICE". That said I didn't feel guilty or shady walking up to the counter with the coupon as the $69.99 isn't a sale price, it's their new low price.

The staples in Raleigh NC didn't have the SATA drive for 69.99, and they had several of the ATA drives so there was no substitute product. I was able to add a 50 pack of Sony CD-Rs at 9.94 and used the $15 off $75 so total with 7% sales tax was 69.42 OTD. Not to shabby. Thanks!

OD has it for $90 - $30 MIR. If you get them to PM to staples, you can get it for $70 - $30 MIR = $40 AR. Great deal, but I was shut down by 2 different CSRs over the phone. Reason: OD's AR price is lower than Staples' ($60 vs. $70).

I tried to goto the OD store and try, and they shot me down, for the reason of "They are not within our 20 mile radius!" line... um... didn't know they put a limit on how far away Staples stores has to be... :disgust:

I don't think they are, I just got mine for 65, I used the 75-15 coupon, got 5$ in fillers, then payed 5$ in sales tax, awesome deal. Thanks for the coupon poster and the original poster keeping me from picking up one for higher on the FS/FT forum.

SATA one was still 119 or 129 or so when I looked at Staples this morning (Fishers IN).

At the Staples in the Colonial Plaza in Orlando they had both the PATA and the SATA 160s still. The SATA were $129.
After I purchased my PATA 160 they had 1 more one the shelf and two SATAs next to it.

I picked up the new Logitech MX1000 wireless laser mouse as my "filler" item. They had it on sale for 59.99!
I used a $7.00 Staples Rewards check from 4th quarter '04 to make it even better. Wasn't much, just 2% of my purchases, but every little bit helps.

Thanks to usernamemax20charact for the post and josh64FX for the 15 off 75 coupon!

I tried to pick one up last night, but my local store was OOS. I asked if they expected to get any more in stock in the next few days, and I was told that there should be 4 coming today on one of their trucks. So, I claled first thing this morning to see when their truck would arrive and I was told that it would arrive later in the day and be unloaded by 6PM.. and that this particular clerk was also waiting on one because it was such a good deal.. So, at around 5:30 or so I head to the store and none are on the shelf.... so I ask them to check the stock but it says that they have 0, with 0 arriving. So, either Staples' inventory is very inaccurate, or the clerk bought all of the drives before they hit the shelves... Seeing as how Staples regularily moves many items around to their various stores in a (seemingly) fairly efficient and effective manner, I'm beginning to think that this store employee hoarded them all.

I just called and confirmed that Staples is offering the SATA drives as substitutes. The sales clerk even offered to order me a SATA drive locked in at the sale price of the ATA. I will definately be taking him up on that offer.
