Well seeing how MysticMan loves to post those deals that con staples...i might as well join the crowd...

Buy the drive with a $30 coupon (yes it exists)...then use your phone to PM microcenter to $159 (i fyou have B&M store near you, shipping is $0...if you dont, expect a charge of like $5)...

110% the difference = $155.078

$299.98 - $155.078 = $144.922 - $30 coupon = $114.922

edit: since all you guys love to PM outpost, ill include that...oupost has the drive for $259 - $120 Maxtor MIR = $149...110% difference = $166.098
$299.98 - $166.098 = $133.902 - $30 = $103.902

i was under the impression that they NEVER PM'd MFR rebates...

from the hundreds of posts that ive seen with deals that con the sheizer out of staples, people seem to have successfully PM'd mfr rebates...just need a dumb tech from what i hear...

They did, but now they don't. I had succesfully done it about 6 times without fail. This was until yesterday, when I learned I could not PM this drive because they stopped PMing AR prices. Still, the people instore did NOT know about this, so it is possible if you PM instore on an internet purchase with coupon. I woulda done just that, but I was ultra-not smooth.

Staples CSR: Why do you want to return this item?

Me: Because you changed your PM policy so you can't PM AR.

Staples CSR: Oh, I didn't know that.

Staples changed their policy on June 23rd, but a few people still got pm's to rebates for a few days after that because not all Staples csr's were notified of the change. Check out this thread

As for having to get a "dumb tech", that was not the case at all. It was Staples.com's policy to pm after rebate prices, and I was successful every time, but I don't think I was ever successful at a B&M.

I was very sad to see this go.
