Matt - your question is sort of a guessing game.
Obviously, if they come in you're good, but if they don't you're screwed!!
If it were me, I wouldn't order it while on backorder.

Is that in-store pickup on backorder?
If not, try to check out and specify in-store pickup and it might show as available in-store.
Worth a shot - in fact by the time I ordered the in-store one, that's what I had to do.
It came up as on backorder, I changed to in-store pickup - where it turned out to be available!!

Hope this helps!

Mustanggt - give OD a call and ask them for the tracking number on your order.
Mine showed 12/11 delivery, but UPS tracking number shows that it'll be her 12/7 !!

Got mine today. But where's the packing slip?
The shipping box only has a UPS label sticker on the box.
Just the shrink wrapped Maxtor inside, no receipt there either.

What am I supposed to use for the rebate as sales receipt?

I ordered 2 and got one today. Got a question. I believe the drive I got is one of the new ATA133 7200 PRM drives. It says on the drive D740X-6L and the model number is 6L020J1.

I looked it up on Maxtor's Homepage and those numbers pointed to the DiamondMax Plus series of hard drives. However I didnt get the fluid bearing drive but rather the regular ball bearing ones. Nonetheless it's a surprising outcome.

I need some confirmation here. Let me know what you guys got. Keeping my fingers crossed for the fluid bearing drive.

You should be able to print out a receipt online from your account.

Thanks for the info. I will try that. I am also going to email them on it just to make sure. After dealing with the likes of TCA, I am leary of giving these guys any chance to discard my submission.

I got the same drive as Lipkun........says D740X - 6L with the MX6L020J1 #. The sticker on the box says ATA100.

I am just glad it isn't older ATA66's still floating around. So how do you know what bearing it uses?

I see it, on the D740X link. Crappola, not fluid. But thenagain if this fluid stuff is so new, maybe it's got bugs to work out. I'll take the ATA133 though. Will go great with the AMD XP giveaway combo I won.

This new software has no way to edit your posts. That is sucko.

Ooops, had my TIF set to never, wouldn't hold the log on, no wonder I didn't get "Edit" choice.

So you guys are getting yours delivered by UPS? My OD orders are delivered by OD themselves. That's fine I guess, but they didn't even put the hard drive in a box, when I got home today there was the orange Maxtor box sitting on my front porch, with the OD shipping label stuck on the original Maxtor shrinkwrap. Strange.

Talked to CSR last night and she implied these would be in soon. Just checked & they are OD.com in stock! I just ordered mine, says to expect delivery in 3 days. Added on roll of tape should arrive in one day.

Printed out web receipt with todays date, just in case.

Is everyone else getting two graphics boxes with "x"s in them below the rebate coupon on the OD rebate page? Has anyone compared the online rebate form to the in-store version to see if the missing graphics are something we need to send in to get the rebate?

I also got the 2 boxes with the "x"s - I don't know what they are - hopefully nothing.

Okay, I dropped by Office Depot last night, along with two print-outs: 1.) My order confirmation number from the OfficeDepot site (required for in-store pickup) 2.) A printout of OfficeDepot.com's price of $99.00 on this 20GB hard drive (beginning from the title of the product down to the last row of the specs

I walked into the store, went to a cash register, along with a $9.99 mouse pad (my Dad needed one) I handed the lady the print-out of my order confirmation number and told her I had an order waiting for me. She told me it was "in the back" and asked the manager nearby to please get it. She started ringing up the mousepad as a separate order and I asked her 'can you please add this to the order I need to pick up?' She smiled and kindly replied, 'Well, that's already been charged for, Sir.' I just stood there for a second, thought about what she said, and then laid it down, 'Well, I want to pricematch the hard drive against OfficeDepot's online price. You guys are selling the same drive for $99.00 online, but $109 here." To make a long story short:

she told me that they couldn't PM with their site
the manager comes out with the drive, I'm still trying to persuade the cash register lady, she won't budge
I ask to talk to the manager who brought out the hard drive
I tell her "I bought this drive online yesterday (12/4) for store pickup. I was charged $109. This morning (12/5) I went on OfficeDepot.com and this SAME drive is now $99. I would like to pricematch the lower price please."
I hand the manager the print-out, she looks at it, I tell her "You can check it on the site if you'd like Ma'am"
After looking at it for a second, she complies, but just as quick reminds me "We usually don't match our website because they're known to have lower prices so that they can establish clientele."
I promptly thanked her and let her know I appreciated her help.
She did nothing with the current order, and instead credited $10.00+tax (the difference) back to the credit card on a new 'invoice'
That $10.00+tax automatically went towards the mousepad I purchased, so in the end, I got the online price including the coupon.

Yeah!

Peace

Mustang, from what I'm gathering, not more than a few days if your order was said to be 'In Stock'

As far as those people condemning this drive to ATA/100 only, to be very blunt (no offense intended at any single individual): YOU'RE WRONG I don't know how people are coming up with these theories that despite the drive's D740X markings and acknowledgment on Maxtor's site that this is the same 20GB ATA/133 model, that they are limited to ATA/100. I assume it's from reading the box's specifications where only ATA/100 is listed. I don't know if anybody bothered to notice, but the box they use is very generic, with as common information as possible printed, leaving specifics to the drive itself. Heck, even the '20GB' capacity is noted using a STICKER. LOL Nothing is set in stone. Remember too, these were the same boxes used to package Quantum 7200RPM drives as well.

At any rate, my point is this: I attached this drive (unformatted so I didn't benchmark anything) to my Father's IWill XP333-R system (which uses ATA/133 standard IDE connectors and features 2 ATA/133 RAID connectors) powered up the system and sure enough, the RAID Administrator and RAID BIOS say "ATA 133Mbytes/Sec" I shut down the PC, connected to the regular IDE connectors (non-RAID, ATA/133 ALi connectors, and sure enough) BIOS says, "ATA133" as well.

EDIT: You're not going to see ATA/133 using an ATA/100 "limited" controller, you have to use an ATA/133 controller. Also, if you're wondering, I used the IWill-provided "ATA/133" IDE cables. Although, from visual inspection they look just the same as ATA/66,ATA/100 cables, but just to be sure... LOL

Bottom line: THIS DRIVE IS ATA/133, FOR $40 AFTER THE MAIL-IN REBATE, IT IS SMOKING HOT, THANK YOU WildDreamer FOR AN EXCELLENT DEAL, THANK YOU docinthebox FOR THE COUPON, AND THANK YOU VH2000 FOR THE PMing TIP."

Peace

You're welcome, Atif!
Glad to hear everything worked out!!

And . . . you didn't even have to buy that Snickers bar - LOL!!
Although, it probably would have been more satisfying than the mouse pad!!

I would also like to thank WildDreamer and docinthebox for a RED HOT deal!!

I'm going to go broke saving money! You folks are killing me with these deals!

$30 + Tax for a 7200 RPM, 20 gig hard drive is pretty amazing. And free shipping too!

I ordered one last night (Wed, Dec 5th) as it was listed "In Stock". Delivery is slated for December 11th by an Office Depot truck. (I hope they don't leave it unwrapped at my door as someone else mentioned.)

Regarding the rebate, I talked to someone at the rebate center and they said to just print out the invoice for the rebate application. They also confirmed that the rebate was good for online orders as well as at the retail stores.

I'll post an update when it arrives or if there are any problems.
