I don't know if that is necessarily true. I ordered over the phone last night and the guy said it was out of stock at my local wherehouse, so it would take longer to get here (monday the 26th as opposed the this week as everyone else is hearing). Maybe you will have more luck calling.

I'm on staples' mailing list and occassinaly get coupons to use in store (honest-- I'm actually on it 3x), but don't have any of those emails handy. Can anyone help me out? PM me for email address. Thanks

Lizardboy, you might want to edit your original post. You have "-maxtor has a $50 MIR on the drive" when I think you meant "-maxtor has a $50 MIR on the ATA100 controller" since Maxtor is actually giving the rebate on the controller when purchased with the drive. This might be confusing some folks about the deal.

This is a good deal, I got in on this last week.

Just order one. But when I check my order status, I did not see the Maxtor 20G. I called Staples. A CSR said "out of stock". So I have to cancel the order.

Be aware of this kind of fake success. Check your order status right after order submit.

Guys & Gals,

Staples works on a REGIONAL basis...this is not like the HP Notebook at Wal-Mart where it is either in stock for everyone or out of stock for everyone, with staples in/out stock is only based on what your LOCAL store has in stock

if you feel the need to say "out of stock"...at least post what city/town you are in...someone may be able to suggest an alternate zip code that does have it in stock

just try out another zipcode that's near you. i live in allston/MA (02134) and staples said it was out of stock. so i cleared out my cookie for staples and then entered in another zipcode for boston/MA (02121) and voila! in stock. I'm just waiting for the customer service to open up at 10am est to get my price adjustment, and i have my rebate stuff all setup as soon as i get my order in. happy hunting.

Has anyone been able to get the maxtor $50 coupon link to actually display correctly? It won't open for me or save correctly. The webpage opens up a gif, but it doesn't have spaces to fill out your mailing info.

Also, is there a limit on the number of $50 off rebates? I don't see any word of a limit on maxtor's site, perhaps the coupon I can't open says if there is one. Wondering if I can do a second one (bought a 60gb + the controller last month)

For those of you wanting to call and get a price adjustment, the staples systems are apparently going through a minor tweak/upgrade and it sounds like they'll be up and running at around 11am est. The csr's are having to mainly jot down notes and phone numbers right now.

Looks like the $479.99 price is only good at stores, the online store still shows $99.99

The price will stay 99.99 on the website, but you can call in to request a price adjustment/pricematch with your local store's ad for the President's Day Sale. That ad show's a price (before rebate) of $79.94

:disgust:It seems that STAPLES will not honor the pricematch. I called twice and it is their new policy that they will not honor the pricematch on certain B&M sales. This incensed me! I called twice to register a formal complaint. I guess they will be losing much of my business in the future!

CSR told me as of 10:30am that they can't Price Adjust on this... said it came down from headquarters... she even said that it didn't make any sense that they'd PM with another store but not PA for their own store... oh well..
