I ordered a 17" Soyo LCD through TigerDirect. There was a $70 rebate that you had to jump through hoops to get through using OnRebate.com. OnRebate.com denied my rebate for lack of UPC (which was included). I called OnRebate and they investigated and came to the same conclusion. I didn't have the box anymore and the UPC was cut off of it anyway. Not only that Soyo wouldn't allow resubmissions even if I could have done it. I called TigerDirect and explained the situation. I got put on hold for about 5 minutes and the CSR came back on and told me they credited me the full $70.

The quesiton I have... Is Tiger Direct affiliated with OnRebate.com because I'm not a big fan of OnRebate.com. If they are then I'll probably skip anything from them involving a rebate. If not, well props to Tiger Direct for customer satisfaction in my case.

Go to globalcomputer.com. They are the sister company of TD but they do not charge taxes in NC. They have the same drive and same rebates.

TD shows a 3 year warranty, is this true? I thought only the MaxLine III drives sported that much warranty? If the warranty is 3 years, then this is a pretty hot deal!

The following Standard Warranty Period will apply to Maxtor products purchased by distributors from Maxtor on or after September 12, 2004:

* Maxtor Fireball®, DiamondMax® ATA/SATA and DiamondMax Plus ATA /SATA drives will carry a Standard Warranty Period of 3 years.
* Maxtor MaXLine? ATA/SATA drives will carry a Standard Warranty Period of 5 years.

Only Maxtor's RETAIL BOXED drives have a 1-year warranty. I guess they don't trust your "average" shopper.
