Wait until Monday morning before freaking out about not getting e-mail confirmation. They stated that all orders placed after 5pm EST Friday and through the weekend don't get processed until Monday.

billmaine2001 - check out the page http://www.officedepot.com/generalinfo/FreeDelivery.asp about Tech Depot by Office Depot. I am fairly sure that the coupon said that it did not include Tech Depot by Office Depot items. Try ordering it for in-store pickup if possible.

Does the Office Depot have an option to print a receipt that looks like a receipt and not an invoice? The best thing I got was an 'Order History Detail' - I guess I will include a copy of that and a copy of the pickup invoice with the rebate.

I received a 20 off 75 coupon in my email. The fine print says:

Not really sure what drive it is. It should be from the D740X series, and looks to be the standard ball-bearing version. But there's no mention of a 30GB version from the D740X series on Maxtor's web site. The only other 7200rpm 30GB hard drive I see is the +8 series, which is newer, quieter, and has fluid bearings as default.

Another monkey in the wrench is that my friend and I have bought the same Maxtor retail drive before, and had gotten hard drives from two different series.

So I guess just wait for someone to report back on what model # is on the actual drive inside the box.

I went back and checked the clickthrough 20 off 75 I used and it said:
*This Offer Not Valid on Tech Depot
with no mention of other restrictions, so it must be a different offer than the email one. It worked for instore pickup. It expires 11/01/02.

Got mine. I'm putting together a system for my sister for Christmas using spare parts I have laying around. I was going to use an old 5.4GB HD. This drive will be MUCH better. $34.94 shipped after coupon and rebate.

Drive is out of stock now and coupon will not work. Verified that the coupon will not work by calling OD system support. Apparently, the order value is 0 for items on backorder so coupon can not be applied. Also, 247coupon is not a legitimate affliate of OD. Looks like someone posted a personal coupon directly for OD on the web. Very cool if it worked.

Got lucky and actually got in on a deal here in Georgia! They had the drive in stock at my local OD and as soon as I get out of class, I'm off to pick it up! Thanks everyone!

Not a D740X, but a DiamondMax Plus 8. It is on the Maxtor web site, here.. The 30GB is model 6E030L0, and does have fluid bearings. (All Plus 8 models do, unlike the D740X, which apparently is a "some do and some don't". Of course, I've never gotten one that does...)

This drive's a keeper. The Plus 8 is even quieter than the Fluid Bearing version of the D740X.
Did the rest of you get the same model drive?
As I mentioned before, my friend and I have gotten Maxtor drives from different series even though we got the same Maxtor retail box at the same time.

Regardless of what's currently on Maxtor's website, there have been 30GB drives prior to the "Plus 8" series, but I can't remember if they were 7k2 RPM or not. Hopefully if people are getting "6E030L0" drives, they'll still be able to take advantage of the rebate, which seems to be for model "L01J030" instead.

L01J030 is the part# of the retail package, not the inside drive itself.
To be able to get a 6E030L0 drive for $30 + tax is pretty hot. Hope everyone gets this Plus8 drive!

36 hours and counting since ordering, and still no email confirmation. It still says "delivery pending" at the OD website. Is everybody else who ordered yesterday having the same problem? Looks like I'm going to have to call tomorrow.:disgust:

Well, I ordered for local pickup last night, but it's still pending online. Called my local OD and they have the HD in stock, but oddly enough my "paperwork" hasn't gotten to them yet. They're holding one for me to pickup and will cancel the online order for me - but then no coupon, right?

Any chance a call to their 800# will do any good? Guess I'll just give it a try and find out.
