No, there was a $10 off $50 code which brought the price to ca. $40 (plus tax) out the door. I got three of them.
Unfortunately 2 of them died soon, typical wetstern digital. Turned out that they had many bad drives around that time as a new "management" had taken over and boosted production and cutting costs at the same time.
It took them 2 month to replace them, no wonder, again, because one of those "Arif Shakeel" had become the "President & COO of Western Digital".

But back to this "deal" and all those defending how "hot" it is: it is not!
And if you care to look closely, it was posted in the "Hot Deals" section of this board!

I'm negotiating a deal to build 8 boxes for a small lawfirm, so if the deal were finalized and these drives were available in my area, then, yeh, it would be good. Not everybody wants or needs monster drives. These guys won't use 10gigs...

Rebates suck, and they're a moot point on multiple purchases. Show me a better cash price deal on a modern drive. Then you can piss on this thread...

It's a 7200rpm drive, for those who were asking.

Not really a super hot deal, but eh, it's more than enough to warrant a post here.

Sometimes you folks seem to get a bug up your ass if things dont come out FREE.

My experience with "Hot Deals", in general, is that this board is filled with posts from MANY AT members who don't want to spend a dime. These jerks only want FAR items & $1.00 Big Macs. Usually no profile is enabled so you know they never set foot in FS/FT.
Note, I said "MANY", not all, so if this doesn't pertain to you, don't get your panties in a bunch.

I've NEVER made a post on this board that didn't get multiple derogatory responses. I know a good deal when I come across one. If you disagree, it doesn't mean someone else won't want to take advantage of what I consider to be "hot".

Back to this particular post... I needed a 20gb HDD just the other day for a proxyserver @ work. I needed it immediately. Bought a 40GB drive (smallest they had in stock) for $85.00/no rebate (company funds, of course). No clearance HDDs available...I asked.

CATASTROPHY's post is indeed a "hot deal" for a 30GB HDD.

We post in "Hot Deals" to help other members.

Responses that undermine these posts are BS.
