PM Staples "in-store special" with BB for approx $99.99. Get BB $30 MIR and $20 GC. BB has this on p. 2 of the Sunday ad this week. $50 net. Info I have is tht this is the ball bearing version (fluid would be nice, though). If BB clerks don't/can't print out the forms, then get the MIR and GC off of the BB website, no hassle.

The $100 Staples price is $20 off the regular website price, and is available as an in-store special thru 3/9. To get to the web page for this, click on the "weekly specials" button on the home page and then go look for the "in-store specials" button on the page for the weekly specials. Identify the location of your local staples. You can then add this item to the printable shopping list, print it and take over to BB. It will show the date, the location of your neighborhood Staples and the price. Expect them to call Staples, but all I needed was patience and the printout of the Staples page (I had printouts for several Staples store locations, in case one was OOS). Worked for me!

It doesn't matter if BB does not accept internet sites. Just have them call you local staples, make sure the HD is in stock first!

Worked fine for me yesterday.
I went to Staples site, looked for instore specials, searched for Maxtor and saw the 40/7200 Maxtor for $99.00.

I then printed this page out and brought it to BB. Their first comment was 'on line' store but I politely pointed out 'in store'. She matched the price (i forgot to ask about the 110%) and even printed out and gave me the rebate forms. I really didn't care about the rebate forms since I already had them printed out from BB's site.

Already posted the rebates (after copying all info). A nice deal for me.

40 gig for $108 with tax.
less $50.00 rebates
Net of $58.00.

Worked fine for me. I did this on Saturday with no problems. The guy in the computer dept. said they would not PM and give the rebate; so I went to the front asked the manager was told no problem; cashier rang it up no questions asked. Sweet deal.

I did this yesterday with a bit of persuasion. The clerk at the desk told me 3 times it was an Internet special, so I had to explain to him 3 times it was an "in-store" special. He finally got a manager and with some reluctance he agreed with me. I did not get the extra 10% off though. I'll see if I can go back to get that.

I had an extra $25 BB gift card kicking around, so I used that too.. sorta traded it out for the $20 BB gift card I mailed the rebate out for.

Maxtor ata/66 drives are ata/100

If your ata/66 drive does not show up as ata/100, then use this tool from Maxtor
to fix it: 66to100.exe

actually there's a sticker on mine that indicates it's ATA133

Yep, got one on Saturday, the box has a ATA133 sticker on it and the drive itself is marked MX6L040J2
which idicates it is indeed a Maxtor D740X ATA133 Ball Bearing drive.
CSR did the PM no sweat, just was a little surprised when both rebate forms printed out from the register.
But by then it would have been too much trouble for her to make an issue of it, so off I went both rbates
in hand.

This is a pretty smoking deal, I can use the 20 dollar cards so I guess thats why, but damn is best buy's customer service and price match sweet. I have never in my life had such a great experience trying to pricematch at a store, and on top of that, they rerang my radeon for the rebate deal on it (and gave me an extra 10 dollars off on top of it!). I was very suprised.

I bought this drive today as I was having compatibility issues with my Western Digital 60GB WD600BB drive. This is a sweet drive. Seriously it is nice and works great. It is ATA133 and 7200rpm. I would argue maybe not a better 40 Gigger available. Great find. Good luck to all. btw, my rebate and gift card mail in receipts both printed at the register.

so i asked my friend to check......$113.25

okay heres where i need help
at the same time i noticed that they had the ati radeon 8500 for $139 after rebates
they were out of stock though
i asked for a rain check
and the price on it is the original $189. and no mention of the rebate
anyone think i'll get my rebates after they get it in stock and contact me.
is this somehting i could call and talk to the best buy csr 1800# about.
