Cool this works for Oregon also. I found a Maxtor 40GB hard drive on Office Depot's web site here but it says $179.99

If anyone visits their local OD can you see if the Item # and Manufacturer's # matches up with the web site?

Since the item does not apear in this weeks sales circular, I tend to believe it is a mistake. Perhaps some mistook the 7 for a 1.

Interesting. Maxtor is offering a $50 mail-in rebate on any hard drive kits greater or equal to 40GB. Would this HD qualify as a kit?

Probably just wishful thinking. If you order now you will get a $50 instant rebate. This is probably the same rebate, I would guess. Although I could be wrong, I'm not much of an expert when it comes to rebates.

As far as I know THAT $50.00 "Mail-In" rebate only applies when you also purchase a Maxtor Ultra ATA/100 PCI Adapter Card. Check this previous post for more info:Maxtor PCI Adapter Deal!
THIS deal looks to be a seperate "INSTANT" rebate. Could be VERY cool!

Would it be practical to once a day have my primary C: hard drive copy over all the NEW files over to D:? Would that be a huge undertaking? If not, how long would it take at the end of every day?

rootaxs - I'm clueless abotu that, so I would buy this 40GB Maxtor (Dell came with a 40GB 7200 RPM WD) and the RAID Controller, then what?

Is that the best option?
