I just placed my Staples order using the $30 off $100 coupon I hope they won't give me any flack in price matching ... I am so nervous now that I can't even go to sleep!

I even checked the stock at Office Depot for my zip code and it says it is IN STOCK which is a good thing. PLEASE let Staples price match this because $89 for a 40GB is soo friggin' HOT.

MrPALCO - Staples stocks geographically by zip code according to your nearest store/warehouse. There are ways to circumvent that though, the best option is to CLEAR YOUR STAPLES COOKIES. Read this thread starting with stonerdave's post dated Nov/25/2000 5:48 AM. It shows the different methods of how to clear your cookies or to fool the Staples computer into thinking you have a zip code which is half way across the country.

If some of us had already gotten in on the Staples 179.99 with free zip drive coupon, can we go back to Staples and get a price guarantee. It has only been 2 days, I would think they should match Office Depots price. The only problem I see is that they gave you a free zip drive but that was a coupon.

Schmo - Assuming you purchased the Maxtor 40GB & free Zip online here's what I would do:

Call Staples and make it sound like a routine price match, hey it might work because the Zip is only a product specific coupon code. Just remember that you would NOT be able to use the $30 off $100 coupon also but you could probably price match it. Here is Staples Price Match Policy which states, If you find an identical item with a lower price, now or within 14 days of your purchase we will gladly match the price. The item must be in-stock and available for purchase from the competitor.

Just make sure to click the Office Depot link click Add to Cart then enter your zip code to ensure that it is in stock for your zip code because the Staples CSR will probably do this online while you are holding.

What do you think about the B&M Store? I got a Kodak DC240 about a year ago for $250 when Staples pricematched a web page from OfficeDepot with that price. I will send my other half in there since she is the "persistent" one. Can't hurt. As a backup, I ordered this drive from Office Depot with the 10 dollar coupon. I will turn around and take this stuff back to Staples if they don't want to deal with me.

No matter which way you got this drive... dont forget to buy the controller card as a separate purchase at Staples, add .16 cents to your basket and get the 20 off coupon. Get the controller card for -$19. Now that's a deal.

Schmo - A price match and coupon might work at a Staples B&M it depends on a few factors, read my 2nd post in this FatWallet.com thread

1) The Staples B&M would need to have this in stock.
2) The local Office Depot B&M that the Staples CSR calls would also need to have this in stock.
3) Your persistent other half would have to be both persistent yet polite.
4) Most importantly a manager will probably become involved to approve the whole thing. You're best off clearing your cookies and trying to order from another zip code.

I've been able to successfully order stuff from Staples zip codes in CA even though I live in OR. I cleared my Staples cookies then tried random zip codes at other stores around the country. Hehe I guess when you see a sweet deal you can become pretty lucrative ...

nealh - Try clearing all of your Staples cookies again and look here for a list of Staples B&M's close to Melbourne, FL.

Simply click the city name to see that store's zip code.

If that doesn't work then try another city which is within 4-6 hours of Melbourne, go to the Staples store locator all I did was enter Melbourne, FL and it brought up those 5 choices you see above.

lilstevo - Here's what I usually do 99% of the time:

1) Place my Staples order online using a coupon.
2) Telephone 1-800-3-STAPLE option 2 to price match.

Or if you want you can always Price Match online

I would not recommend calling right now because I have been on hold for 5 minutes now, I think they only have 1 CSR working right now. Think I'll try and calm myself down and finally go to sleep. Let's hope this deal isn't killed by the time I wake up ...

Awesome I have been waiting for a deal like this. I ordered this drive back when they were on sale at staples for 159 and used the $40 coupon. So I just got off the phone and now I have another one coming to me for $96 after tax. Oh and these are ATA100.

LOL it was funny after I told her the item number she ask me "and you will be pricematching this?" LMAO she has taken so many orders she is already giving the pricematch before you ask for it.

I would instead suggest ordering it from Staples not Office Depot and get it for less.
