Just got 2 drives at local Staple B&M, with ATA/100 cards. When I went to get them, the first box said 40G, ATA/66, so I moved the box out of the way, and the rest of them said "Extra 5 Gig, and ATA/100" in the back of the locked shelf. Got O.D. price match, but no online coupon.

Question I have, the sales guy said Sunday they are giving away free Zip drives again, but I didn't want to wait. Does Staples have a "you gave everyone else a better deal 2 days after I bought my stuff" policy, where I can try to go in and get the Zips on Sunday?

Medmike: Yes, they should give you the zip drives if you take your receipt back Sunday. I've done this two or three times with things I've bought at Staples (including PM'ed) without any trouble whatsoever. Of course, that isn't to say you won't get hassled just because I didn't...

Damn Office Depot jacked there price back up to $179.99.
If you click on the link on the first page it will direct you to the drive with the price of $179.99.
Luckily, I just picked up mines today. I printed the ad out, but Staples took the ad otherwise I scan it for people who need it.

The $119.99 office depot price should be valid untill the end of 12/2/00. Atleast, thats what it says in the sunday ad from last week.

But if you try to PM over the phone, Staples will actually check it against their site. But if you have the ad, the best thing is to go to a local staples and PM with the ad, usally they don't check the web or stock. They just ring it up with the discount.

im not sure how long it takes staples to process an order, but you to their web site and check status on your order and look at the delivery date...

i finally got staples to PM this thing and ordered it... they said it was gonna be here on the 15th...
thats in 2weeks...

hmm, i wonder why they taking so long to ship it (with UPS)... the PNY 128mb i bought from them on sunday came wednesday night (by staples courier)

anyone know if staples is gonna restock on these Maxtor ATA/100 PCI Adapter cards soon?
i wanna get $50 rebate from maxtor!

Well I got screwed over on this deal, TWICE. First I ordered from office depot. It was a success. Said it would be delivered 12/1, called today and asked why it didnt come yesterday, out of stock. Then why was I told it was in stock and placed an order. Then I got screwed over at staples after i canceled my OD order. I make my order and the lady CALLS office depot and says they are IN stock. So, i call back later, lady says office depot out of stock after I ordered, and I will no longer be able to recieve my order. What the !@#$%^&* kind of people are running these places

It was oos in my area also... Called the other day and had it shipped to my in-laws... In stock in their area... I'll pick it up from them over the holidays while visiting...

BTW... They have it sitting at their house as I speak now...

Hi, just want to let everyone know I managed to get the DEAL.. I am from Vancouver BC
and I Drove down to the states this past weekend.

I went to OD and the nice CSR's they had there helped me call about 15 stores in the Seattle area. NONE had stock. But there was one which had 5 on HOLD.
I got their number for the store, and went looking for the closest STAPLES or BESTBUY store.

I didn't know my way around so eventually I was driving back to Canada with only some downtown shopping done, until I saw a large mall (north gate)?? I drove in and found a best buy...

FINALLY they had 2 in stock.. but I looked further and found 2 other ones in stock (bottom bottom shelf) which were the 40 + 5GB free (Diamond Max Plus 45 ata100) So I quickly got a sales rep and asked for price match.

I got them to call the store with 5 on HOLD and since he was calling as a potential customer he didn't ahve a right to ask who OD had it reserved for.. before he got through I told him that I had 2 on HOLD haha...

Guess it worked and OD said they had 5 on HOLD waiting to be picked up... funny thing is that he asked why I wanted to buy from THEM instead of that particular OD.... from nowhere I just answered that BEST buy was easier to find.. he laughed and told me that he will pricematch + beat the diff by 10% which was about 8.00

So all in all I got the 2 drives for 111.97 x 2, tax exempt (canadian)
Pretty good... I might go back to the states for the next deal hehe..

Well I had succesfully made the deal and got the dreaded call this morning when I was loaded on pain killers and half asleep,

"Sorry the item you ordered is ... out of stock ... and we no longer want to honor out pricematch ... I mean and we don't have any backorder so how about we just don't give you one. Thanks for spending an hour on the phone for no reason."

hehe i got another one today....went to local staples....mission viejo, ca and they had it for 155 for some reason...but they gave it to me and teh zip drive....time to resell the zip drive so i wont get ripped off.

Wow, I guess mine was free...
Ordered from OD on Nov 27. Order was cancelled and reopened same day by OD. Original delivery date was Dec 1. Something happened a second time as the item was again in limbo on the 4th as it had not even been put "on the truck" yet. Called and found out the HD was being shipped from an OD location in GA. Drive eventually shipped via UPS. Here it is Dec 6th and the HD comes. 45GB 100ATA version...
But no shipping invoice! The box contained the HD only. Called my CC company to discover it has never been charged. There was a pending charge from the ORIGINAL transaction that was cancelled by OD and reopened. I guess I will have to call OD and let them know they sent the drive without charging me.
Did i mention I called and complained about the delivery delay and received a $10 discount? Perhaps they wanted to pay me to take it... I wonder what is wrong with it.

Well, I'm a late one on this deal, but got lucky.

Here's what I did.

I found a copy of a url from Office Depot listing this drive for 119.99
And found a printable in-store coupon for 10.00 off.
I went to OD B&M today and took both copies.
The manager said the sale ended last week.
I told him I just printed it off the web last night.
He gave it to me for 119.99 and then 10.00 off that.
So I got the drive for 109.99
So I didn't do the Staples thing with the zip drive, but I didnt want a zip drive anyway.
Then I went to Staples online and bought the ATA 100 Maxtor card for 49.98
Plus a Memorez 48x CD-Rom for 49.99
This total came to 99.97
Then used the 25 off 75 coupon to bring it to 74.97 and free shipping.
Then went to Maxtor and printed the $50.00 MIR for buying the HD and Card.
Also, the Memorex CD-Rom drive has a $20.00 MIR (expires today)
So In the end I got a HD for 109.99
An ATA100 Card for Free
and a Mem 48x CD-rom for 4.97
for a grand total of $114.96 for a HD, Card, and CD-rom.
