OD has the 40 GB onsale for $79.84 .. but with coupon and rebate it is HOT

I did this on-line (so the coupon would work)
then chose in-store pick-up !

Office Depot SKU 0368121
Maxtor 40GB Hard Drive 7200RPM

Price $79.84
Minus $15.00 ($15 off $75 coupon)
Minus $30.00 (Rebate from Maxtor)
Total $35.00 + Sales Tax

OD Maxtor Rebate 8-24 to 8-30

How do you use $10 OM MIR on OD products?

Try searching for office depot coupon at F@twallet. There is also a 25 off 75 at ebates, but it won't let me apply if for some reason. I can't find the promotion restrictions for that specific coupon:
<!--StartFragment --> The coupon <<snip>>, requires an order total of at least 75.00,. At this time the order total is .00. This may be the result of certain product exclusions. Please review the promotion and disclaimer for complete explanation on what the intent of the coupon 021716943, is. If necessary, add more products and try again. Thank you

I believe that coupon is not good for technology stuff, I normally just pickup at the store, so I add $75 worth of something I do not want non technology and just return it at the store..

Usually when there is a rebate on a item doesn't it say there is a rebate on this item, I don't see where it says that.

I need a hard drive but I don't want to get screwed once again on a rebate, I want to make sure, does anybody know for sure?

Not to thread crap, but I'd hold out until another 120GB @ $59 AR comes around.

at 35+tax, its nearly a buck a gig. Way too much IMO.

If you're waiting for a 120GB at $59 after rebates, there's one going on right now at Staples. Check this thread. For the $20 off $85 coupon, you might need to consult some people with obese money-holders.

jasonroehm,

I know of that deal. I'm all done with my hd upgrades... with nearly a terrabyte, It will be a while before i get anything else.

I was commenting on those wanting to purchase the 40G that there are better deals for slightly more $$.

If you order this online and have it shipped, the packing slip is your recepit for the rebate, right?

I was thinking the same thing. $35 itself is not a lot of money...but the per gig price isn't that great.

Keep checking the Hot Deals! If you scroll to the next page you'll find a Maxtor 120G HDD @ Staples for $39.99? AR.
For $5.00 more & 80Gigs? Seems like a no Brainer.....
I was trying to find a 2nd HD for my computer thinking I'd go with a 40 or 80 Gig HD? But kept finding much better pricing on the larger HD's. Just got the WD 200G in the labeled 160G box w/controller card for $53.00 and change after rebates & PM.

So I'd keep lookin'

heh, did you bother reading that 120gb for 39.99 thread? it's 59.99 for the 8mb version, the poster goofed and made the assumption that the 2mb version had the same rebate as the 8mb version.

But why should somebody buy a 40 GB 2MB for $35 and not a 80GB 8MB for $60? I dont think any logical person should consider this deal given at the same time a way better deal is going on. You get 80GB extra for $25 spent and the MIR is the same $30.

Because $60 is a 70% premium over $35. If 40GB is already more than you'll ever need, spending 70% more for a larger hard drive is hardly logical.
