I don't understand how you guys talk about bringing online staples.com codes to brick and mortars and using them. I have been to and called two different Staples stores in the last two days and asked them about this and they both say that you cannot use codes at all. Is there something I am missing here? How do you guys do it? Deals that involve this procedure is kind of tricky in my book. A hot deal should be pretty certain that most people are able to do it. I think the ones that are able to use the online coupon codes in physical BM locations are the few exceptions, not the norm.

If you can't do a deal, it doesn't make it any less hot for those who can. This site is all about knowing what deals exist, not guaranteeing success. I for instance, know I am not a buy.com first time orderer. Therefore, should buy.com deals be removed that require those coupons? I think not. I am sorry you can't cash in on this deal as well as some can, but to those who didn't know about it, learned about it here, and were able to take full advantage of it.....it is a VERY important post and a HOT DEAL.

I disagree Jamey. The fact is I am sure you will the MAJORITY of the posters here cannot use online codes at their local Staples.

For what it is worth, my local Staples did not require me to have the flyer that specified the free ZIP drive. I told the cashier that the Zip Drive was suppossed to be free, he looked up the code and entered it. Done deal.

Also, my staples pricematched OfficeDepot.com 2 days later to 119.00 even with the free zip drive. So, because of this post, I got a 46GB Maxtor and a USB Zip for 119. All I did was print out the web page... no questions were asked.

It all depends on the person working at your staples... the one near me has already given me two obscene deals with no questions asked.

Even if the post only works at 1 out of every 100 Staples, it is still a hot deal for those that get it to work... therefore, people should not be bitching about it.

Lets just post the deals and if it works for you ... great, if it doesn't... move on to the next one.

After all the people who got in on the deal AND ended up with the price match with office depot, it's rediculous to say that wasn't a hot deal. Disagree if you wish, but it was a VERY hot deal for a lot of people and the post was warranted here!

After getting the $119 match with OD last Thursday, I went back to Staples and they gave me the USB ZIP drive free!

Now I have to find a good home for it. Anyone interested? I have absolutely no use for the thing...

BTW, I tried to "return" the 40GB and ZIP to CompUSA (hoping for $99.95 + $199.95 in store credit). No go - since I didn't buy there, can't return there.

Yes and no....it isn't the drive, but when it gets delivered it should be the ATA 100 45 gig version. It will be the retail version. It comes with a cable, mounting rails, and maxtor's software for computers that don't have support for drives this large. I do NOT recommend using the software.

Yep I got in on the deal last Sunday morning and was able to call today and get the zip also. So after rebates HD,ATA100card,and zip for $76.

I returned my free ZIP drive to BestBuy and got a 106.99 in store credit. I told them it was a gift (which it was ) and I didn't have a receipt. They told me they could only give me in store credit. I took it and bought some other stuff that I really wanted.

BestBuy is just going to resell the drive so think of it as more of a trade than anything.

I just bought the drive and the free zip without price matching. Since I have 14 days to PM this drive, can anyone point me to where I can bring down the price? If anyone has a copy of the office depot 119.99 web page printed, I'd appreciate a scan of it.

I only got a 40 gig in my box ata 100. But I did a price match with OD for 119.99 ( which is no more) And got the free external USB Zip drive for my Ma for christmas..........Too bad the peckerhead at my B&M wouldnt take coupon :frown: Oh well I still think I did ok and I may go back for the controller card as well.

Hey S0me1X and to whomever eles this applies to,

I purchased the HD and Zip from Staples the day after thanksgiving, and I noticed that 14days pricematching thing after your purchase, luckily, I still have the AD from last week's OD showing $119, but the price expires on 12/2, which has already passed I guess...

Do you think Staples will still honor the price match? Because, even if it's out of the time limit w/ OD, it's still within 14 days, and if I never bought it from staples, I surely would've bought it from OD the week after... If anyone knows, please tell me... Otherwise, I am going to my local staples tomorrow and see what I can do...

Another question, do we need to go to the staples we purchased it from? Or could it be from any Staples?

on the issue of coupons i called staples b&m today and the man said they will accept coupon codes in the 80000 series so no worries.
