Looks like its same people in who do the rebates for Staples (McAllen, TX). So I guess it'd be good.

The staples site says its only up to 100Mb/sec hence ATA100 not 133.

Nevermind... Just checked the Maxtor site for that model number and it appears to be 133

if you buy one of these drives its almost certain to be a 133 unless its very old self stock...
they have been selling the drive as ata100 and a lot of the time there will be a sticker on the box that says now ata/133 but they probably changed the box to say ata/133 by now

Anyone know if there are any printable $20 off $100 coupons? I have a gift certificate that I'd like to use, but I can only use it in-store. Any suggestions, helps?

I just did this $30 rebate a months ago, and a month before that the $40 one, so now that this rebate has a new time frame, can I do it?

FYI, there are two types of this HD: Fluid Dynamic Bearing and Ball Bearing

FDB Model Number: 6L080"L"4

Ball Bearing Model Number: 6L080"J"4

I have one of each and can't tell any difference.

Anyone if one is better than the other and why?

The fist one I ordered about 2 months ago was the FDB. Then about a month ago I got the BB. Now, they have the BB one still.

I have the fluid, and one of my friends has the ball bearing. Mine is noticeably quieter than his during seek, and HD access, thats the only difference i can tell though.

If you don't need the Sony name, the Cendyne 32x CDRW is a good deal. I received an AOpen.

The deal is better with the Cendyne burner. It is 8 bucks more expensive, but it has a $50 dollar rebate instead of a $30 one for the Sony.

Get the Maxtor drive $129.98 (item 471535)
Get the Cendyne 32x burner $79.98 (item 482877)
Add a $40 off $200 coupon (search some deal & news site somewhere to find it ;-))
follow the link above for the $30 rebate on the maxtor
follow this link for the $50 rebate for the cendyne

your total before rebates $169.96 plus tax ($13.17 at %7.75 in California to total $183.13)
your total after rebates $89.96 plus tax ($103.13 in CA)

Nice deal, probably will get this if I didn't buy the 40G + 32x burner for $50 AR.

Great deal.

I went for just the hard drive, plus I needed some other things from staples that pushed it up to $148. Added $2 worth of junk $30 off 150 coupon and there we go, the harddrive affectively cost me $72, since I had to get the other stuff anyway. Not to mention Staples always has free shipping to my area. Thanks.

There are definatly still 20$ off coupons out there. Check out (ph)atwallet.com. Go to the forums and do a search for "staples coupons". Simple as that.

$160 AR for a couple of these is HOT raided w/ my new KR7A (that just arrived in today's mail)

I was going to use my old IBM 75gxp, but it just started its death throes last night - high pitched whine = ruh-roh. Hope it makes it until these dogs arrive. At least it had the decency to die now, before I reinstall everything.

UDMA 133 raid, baby! - (like I need it & like I need 160 gigs - sheesh). Guess this is Brag & Moan, but it's hot too ;+)

How old is your IBM 75GXP and is it the 75Gb one? These were the drive made in Hungary for IBM that so many people had trouble with. I have one that's been running 24/7 for almost 3 years.
