May 3 is FREE Comic Book Day

How come there is never a free "manga" day. - I wouldn't mind getting a couple free copies of Ah! My Goddess, Chobits, Lupin III or Initial D.

I went out for this last year and it was fun. I got a chance to catch up on all sorts of stuff I had missed. Plus, my comic shop had sales going on all sorts of other great stuff. Some of the books they gave away were quality.

I don't understand the whole maga craze, I mean if people think it is cool that's fine I just don't get the appeal, it all seems so..... I dont know... silly..... But hey, silly is good

as somebody who has collected american (and still does) since age 5, the storylines of manga are observed as being much deeper, and more varied...
whereas that nfl football hero comic kinda vanished here, manga about chefs, tennis players, go players, salarymen, judo shojo -- all flourish quite well

There's a lot more quality in that list than you think. It's kind of shocking what kind of great stuff there is that doesn't have to be Spider-man and Batman.........

As someone who also collected American comics for ~20 years (and I'm only 29 ) I can't get into most of the Anime/Manga because of the STUPID comic relief that they usually throw in. I love the story lines, but they always have to put in some blundering goofus that the protagonist keeps around for God-knows-what-reason. I still love most of the comics and read them when I can, though I no longer have my standing order of 30+ titles/month waiting for me in my box at the comic shop...

Cool deal! I got mine today @ Amazing Comics in Long Beach, CA! I actually got more than just 1 ... maybe my local store is more generous ... In my little pre-filled bag I got:

1.) The Best of Dork Storm (i.e. "Dork Tower")
2.) Keenspot - Spotlight 2003
3.) Metallix
