May sell Z06 and buy a Model S (initial impression added)

Nah, not nuts. My friend's electric Fit EV is probably the most awesome car I've ever driven, and it's not even near what a Model S base is. Think CVT but silent & with crazy torque...you don't really want to get back into an ICE machine again after you've tried it out

Can you:

1. Live within the EV range?

2. Get a charger installed at your house?

The 70D is pretty compelling IMO, though I'm not sure I'd drop a Z06 for one.

For what the Z06 is worth though you could buy a 70D and a nice used sports car (eg Viper, C6Z, etc).

That I think would be worthwhile.

Yes to both. I have a gasoline car as a spare and just bought a brand new house.

I am not going to be impressed by the performance. I have an extreme performance car right now. I just am not using it much.

Ask around on the unofficial Tesla forums, someone in your area might be willing to let you go for a spin if you haven't been in one before. It's kinda eerie pulling up to a stop & having it be dead quiet...I always go for the clutch because I feel like I've killed the engine, then realize there is no clutch

Do it, you will love it. I know someone who did the exact same. And now I see him drive his model s more than I ever saw him drive his Z06.

I've emailed for a test drive at one of the tesla stores in my area.

I'm holding out on Tesla's until I can lease them without doing it through a business. I own my DD but always lease the weekend wrecking ball.

Does not compute. P70D starts $75k. Z06 starts at $80k. I don't see how he's getting two nice cars out of this, even if he manages to sell his Z07 for much more than he paid, lets say 100k. He can get the P70D and say a Honda Civic at the end of the day. Tesla cost a lot more than you think for a car that can't even get out of the state of Texas on one charge.

DO IT, I love my 85D... Although I am looking to get a Porsche 911 to garage next to this one...

IIRC his Z06 is 3LZ + Z07 equipped. It's not going to be exact, but I was basing that on $75k + $35k.

Oh, even better! The nearest supercharger is an hour away from me, let alone a place to test-drive, so...probably gonna wait until the Model 3 comes out

I haven't been watching the Tesla forums, but has Tesla backed down on the 'quit using the superchargers for your daily driving' letter? I have a supercharger just a couple miles up the highway from me, every now and then I have the thought that for an hour spent in that mall every two weeks I could drive for free.

If they're cracking down on that kind of thing though it takes away some of the appeal.

I am researching worth of my vette now. My Z06 is the $100k version, not the $80k version.

I do exactly that (Charge mine up every two weeks at the mall) and I haven't gotten the letter. I think it's targeting the cheap assholes that go everyday to their local supercharger...

You're nuts. Doesn't help the Model S is everywhere here and 99% of their drivers are some of the worst I've ever encountered as both a pedestrian and driver.

Here in San Jose, Teslas are all over the place. I love the idea of the P90D (Ludicrous Speed!), but the Z06 to me has an emotional impact and fun factor the Tesla can't match. In the future I may get one though.

Admittedly, my Z06 isn't the Z07, and I never intend to track the car.

Well, decision made. I went with an 85 kWh version in rwd with quite a few options. I have until September 1 to lock in my selections, and may upgrade to the D (awd). I have no need for the P85D though.

Why buy a new Tesla when you can get a used one? Like buy a used P85, same performance as an 85D but less expensive.

Did you actually get in to drive one already?

You apparently don't fuck around when you get the idea to get a new car.

Heh - you noticed that too? Some people get bored with their cars very easily, some (like me) hold onto them forever. I know he didn't get bored here but that is a somewhat strange vehicle jump assuming he doesn't have a need for a bigger car.

But honestly if you're not driving it hard, the Z07 is overkill. I still love the way they look though, Chevy really knocked it out of the park with the new Vettes.
