Maybe 9 year old girls shouldn't hold uzis after all.

At least tell her to turn the fucking aimbot off.

An instructor at a shooting range in Arizona died Monday after a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot him in the head with an Uzi he was showing her how to use, the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said.

Charles Vacca, 39, of Lake Havasu City was shot Monday morning, airlifted to a medical center in Las Vegas and pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Vacca was working at the Bullets and Burgers outdoor range in White Hills, about 60 miles southeast of Las Vegas, when the accident occurred. The girl and her parents were at the range while on vacation, a sheriff’s spokeswoman told the Los Angeles Times.

He was standing next to the girl, instructing her how to use the Uzi, when she pulled the gun’s trigger and the recoil sent the weapon over her head, causing him to be shot, the sheriff’s office said.

“This is a rarity for something like this to happen,” the spokeswoman said.

In 2008, 8-year-old Christopher Bizilj died in a similar accident at a gun expo in Massachusetts. The boy was firing an Uzi at a pumpkin when the recoil caused him to lose control of the weapon, and he fatally shot himself in the head.

Hmm, I find this statement probably lacks validity:

In 2008, 8-year-old Christopher Bizilj died in a similar accident at a gun expo in Massachusetts. The boy was firing an Uzi at a pumpkin when the recoil caused him to lose control of the weapon, and he fatally shot himself in the head.

what is "something like this"? A child having a problem controlling a fully automatic weapon? Really, that's a rarity?

OK.

...I wonder how many instances of "something [exactly] like this" do lead to such tragedies. Maybe it is a rare occurrence because, I don't know, most people aren't dumbfuck enough to hand a loaded Uzi to an 8 year-old; because 100% of the time they do that, an accident happens.

She hit, but Darwin missed.

I'd say there oughta be a law, but unless we're going to start gassing stupid people there's really only so much that can be done.

I have to wonder what went through that instructor's head, though, that made them think that would be a good idea.

I am really confused as to why you would give a loaded gun to an 8 year old, especially when you are in the process of training them on how to fucking use it!

It is people like this that give responsible adults a bad name!

The only thing a kid under 10 should be shooting is a bolt action rifle that has 0% chance of losing control, one shot per load. Hell my daughter is almost 7 and I just got her a red ryder BB gun and I'm with her 100% of the time. There's no way in hell in a year I'm gonna hand her an uzi in a year to give a whirl. I wouldn't give her a pistol until she's at least 12 and shown very solid control and understanding of firearms. The shorter the gun the quicker shit goes bad.

She had already fired the UZI successfully several times in semi-auto, apparently.

So they thought it was okay for her to try auto...

However, my recollection is that it takes an effort for an adult to keep an UZI under control on automatic.

That poor 9 year old girl. Now she has to live with the trauma of accidentally killing someone for the rest of her life.

I would agree to this, especially for an Uzi. Heck, any fully automatic gun or rifle takes some control for adults. A 9 year old is just too young without an adult being right there holding the gun with them.

All the gun ranges I've gone to here in TX do not allow for fully auto settings. They will even yell at you for rapidly firing semi-automatic weapons.

And this is why you just make friends with someone that has some land outside city limits. =)

Buy a few hundred rounds of frangibles, a case of beer (for the gracious host, ofc) and you get to shoot however you want.

1st gun I ever shot was an Uzi, I was in 4th grade so I was about this girls age. While the gun was pretty heavy for me, it didn't have that much kick. It was just a semi automatic version though. I pulled the trigger pretty fast and didn't feel like I was going to lose control. Nobody was behind me helping me shoot. Although my moms BF was behind me probably so I didn't shoot him on accident lol. Now that was over 30 years ago so I'm sure I don't remember it exactly how it was. But I do remember I shot like 5 clips of bullets by myself, and I was wasn't nearly strong enough to pull the slide back to cock it so I needed help there lol.
