MAYBE HOT? Canon Powershot s200 $269.99 or less???

first of all, i'm a n00b... so please direct this to the right topic if it ain't.

here goes...

i was looking for a digicam and came to decide on the canon s200 after tremendous research. checked bizrate.com for a price check on different stores. regularly the s200 is priced around $350. so i got it at BB for $350 (minus 10% for preferred customer coupons they mailed out this week). but during my research, i came across a store that sells it for $269.99 (1 Stop Camera and Electronics)... they are a store, as well as an online one... so my question (or longshot dream)...

according to BB's price policies, can they cover a store located in NY for PM? ...since "local" can be local city, state, country, etc?....right? they didn't especifically say what "local".... but yah, that's my longshot HOT DEAL if it can happen

let me know what you guys and gals think...i know its a dumb idea, but its an idea from a n00b ...be constructive on your replies please


side-notes: i'm from OC, CA. in addition, i asked a customer service lady, ...i don't think she was confident with her answer--leave it at that...

Best Buy's B&M price match policy is for 30 miles locally. So in this case, you cannot price match a story in NY if you live in California. It does not qualify as local competetion.

Although, thanks for finding the link... this is pretty cheap. I might buy somewhere then do an AMEX Price Match here

damn.. i upgrade from s100 to s110 when it first came out.. now i'm itching for s200 but I bought the underwater case for s100/s110 which isn't cheap... now I gotta spend more money for another underwater case...

i bought an s110, then i bought an s200 and tried both out extensively, id go with the S110, pictures were better...why do you think the s200 costs less....so im returning my s200 to dell...

I disagree with the picture quality statement above.

Reasons the S200 is cheaper:
1. Competition
2. 2MP CCD's are very inexpensive now
3. They have already recouped the costs of miniturizing a camera.
4. Competition

There really isn't much difference between the digital elph models.
I have an S100 and an S200.
The lenses appear identical.
The pictures are indistinguishable from a resolution perspective.
The S200 seems to do better at color accuracy in certain situations, helped, I assume, by the variable ISO's.
The S200 interface is better, with the addition of the 4 nav buttons.
I bought the S200 because of the low cost and the fact that it has multiple ISO's. Also, a few of the controls on my S100 are getting worn out.

Does the S200 take better pictures? Slightly.

Would I replace the S110 with the S200? No, especially if it meant having to purchase a new underwater housing. The difference is slight.

are you guys sure the underwater casing is different between s110 & s200? I have s200 and used to have s110 and they look *identical* to me (size-wise)..

s110 and 200 button location are differnet.. from the pics, s200 seem like it's using a dial selection button while the s110 has one going across... if i read the specs right s100/110 case only goes like 10-15 ft ? or was it 30 ? and the s200 seems to go deeper.. i forgot..

why dont you check out the forusm at dpreview.com, nobody likes the s200 over the s110

first of all, i wouldn't buy directly from 1 stop camera... i'd wait to see some reviews first. there are enough horror stories already about online retailers.. i passed them up when i bought my g2.

second, i just checked out dpreview for the first time, and it was extremely informative.. for those that haven't, go check it out thanks for the reference sirpado

I haven't seen chromatic aberation problems like some claim.


What aspects of the S110's pictures did you think was better?
