edit: Well, OBVIOUSLY you remember #neochat but I mean some of the times we had in there. I went by Antistar on there and I just remember having a BLAST in there. It was like the wild wild west fringe section of ATOT where all the laid back folks hung out and bitched about everything going on in OT. You did a hell of a job keeping that place going, yllus. GOOD FREAKING TIMES.

Postcounts slowing down is probably what's missing.

I remember fusetalk making it quick to post, but somehow if you look at the proportion of posts since moving to vB, you can tell the general consensus is that people's posts have slowed down. Considerably.

I would say the lack of it. When they allowed all the banned members to come back, the trolls came back and are unbannable now. Then you have new trolls like neckbeard who would have been banned back then allowed to ruin the place even more. Why would anyone want to come back to this crap?

Quite a while ago there wasn't nearly as much need for moderation. There were trolls and nefs but in general most of what they did was in good humor. Over time we've collected a group of people that are either outright trolls or just are so antagonistic that it's not nearly as fun around here anymore.

what exactly is so hard about just exiting a troll thread or ignoring a troll post without interacting to it?
Obviously some of you guys are entertained by it in some form or fashion.

Theres no evidence that anyone has left because of a few people, but if they did, then they pretty much stopped using any forum, because the stricter forums aren't much good for more than a once a week reading due to lack of threads or even interesting threads.
You just can't have the benefits of small forums in a large forum nor vise versa.

Optionally you can find product/activity specific forums, like outdoor grilling but the issue there is that is all everyone talks about so not many post daily and most end up being questions or issues. More open discussion forums are the way to keep interactivity and entertainment up more daily but trolls pop up...so its best to just be more specific in what threads and posts you respond to.

Oh, I know who you are! Yeah, it was good times. If I was better able to manage my time and actually idle on IRC instead of spend all of my time on it, I'd still be there now.
