Yep, kidnapping kids on false pretenses and arresting political opponents for participating in peaceful protests.

And of course, the twitter-Musk-mouthpiece has to toss FUD on the story. Shocker.

So...who still claims that DeSantis ISN'T a fascist?

Are there people that claim he isn't? I thought that was one of his main selling points, fascism in a more functional form factor.

I only recall one off-hand fwiw, that'd be either BBshitter or BAngst stating their support for him...I don't recall which of them it was without searching for it in P&N.

Of course nobody on the conservative side has posted in here with support, at least not yet.

Some pretty serious allegations from Rebekah Jones of Florida Covid-19 database fame—she claims DeSantis essentially “kidnapped” her 13 year-old son as retribution for filing a lawsuit against the governor.

Now don’t get me wrong—if you threaten to “shoot up” or “stab” kids at school, you deserve to be arrested—regardless if you’re a minor or not. Someone tipped off police, and the police did their job. But…here’s what Rebekah alleges happened: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...-health-department-analyst-covid-ron-desantis

Jones, a Democrat who lost her challenge for DeSantis ally Matt Gaetz’s congressional seat in November, tweeted that she suspected her son’s social media was being spied on.

“A week after we filed our lawsuit against the state, a kid claiming to be the cousin of one of my son’s classmates joined their Snapchat group. They recorded their conversations, and anonymously reported my son to police for sharing a popular internet meme,” she said.

“They said they had to complete a threat assessment since they received an anon complaint, which both the local cops and the school signed off on as not being a threat.”

Two weeks later, she said, the state issued a warrant for “digital threats of terrorism”.

DeSantis’s office did not respond to a request for comment. But according to Santa Rosa sheriff’s spokesman Bob Johnson, speaking with Wear TV, the teenager “basically said something along the lines ‘I’m feeling silly today, I think I may shoot up a bunch of people in a building’.”

A police report seen by the TV station said a search warrant for his Snapchat account uncovered threats against his former middle school, including: “I want to shoot up the school,” and “I always keep a knife on me so maybe I’ll just stab ppl idk”.

The memes, the Herald reported, including one of a police officer sleeping instead of responding to a school shooting.

What do you think—did the State go too far??

You know what should happen? Kids shouldn't have easy access to guns so no one is scared for their lives when they say stupid shit like teens do. A 6 year old threatened to shoot my daughter a few months ago should she be arrested too?

There is a difference in joking about school shootings and making a serious threat.

After seeing this incident posted I did some google searches to find out more details. It appears her son did make some threats online but local PD initially wrote it off as him being a “teenager”. Then the state gets involved and they arrest him.

He told the deputies at the time he had no plans to do anything, they noted in the report. A deputy told his parents it seemed like a “teenager” thing before leaving without making an arrest, a video of the exchange showed. Deputies did not question him about the more disturbing social media posts attributed to him in this week’s arrest report.

More details:

This came up in my search. Yes, it's the dailymail.co.uk from 2020 so you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Jones' rebuttal to the Daily Mail article.

Captain Ahab still going after his white whale.

Ronald Dion can do no wrong just like trump. He will keep hitting back at anyone who stands up against him.

“They are not superior to the people of Florida,” DeSantis said. “So come hell or high water we’re going to make sure that policy of Florida carries the day. And so they can keep trying to do things. But ultimately we’re going to win on every single issue involving Disney I can tell you that.”

Later in the day, during an appearance at Hillsdale College in Michigan, DeSantis revealed his next move. The governor said that his administration is looking at taxing Disney’s hotels and imposing tolls on roads that serve the entertainment company’s theme parks, according to Politico.

How the hell is the DeSantis administration not being sued into oblivion? It's not like Disney is lacking a well-funded legal department

I keep thinking the Feds will come in and do something about this crap although I don't know what they could do.

While it would never happen I need to say:
Imagine is McDonalds made a “Ron’s Special Meatball” limited time meatball sandwich.

There is some reporting that the actual threat messages (ones about shooting up the school) came from a username that was not his username. So, there's that as well.

She's a bit nutty, but even so I'd lean towards this detention being nefarious.

So he is going to make it more expensive to stay off Disney Property, meaning people will pay more to stay on Disney property. And make it more expensive for the Florida resident employees to go to work at the largest single site employer in the state. Brilliant plan there.

There already is one "ramp" going on to Osceola Parkway that is a $1.50 toll, only for the ramp, the road itself is free. The ramp is mostly used by people going from Wal-Mart to Disney. https://goo.gl/maps/5NatGfiZbhhpkshh8

it would be hilarious if Disney built its own road to avoid the toll road

Gotta admit, I'm cracking up at the thought of the Killary birther RWNJ media shitting bricks that the DeSantis they put into office is going to get them litigated into oblivion.
I support the free press and 1a and hope the law doesn't pass of course, but they'd deserve it if it did.
These partisan political extremists think of nothing but 'winning' and revenge, with no thought towards how their desire to take the freedoms of others only erodes their own.

While Ron Quixote is running around chasing woke windmills we are paying outrageous property insurance that will go even higher. Ron needs to be chasing a way to lower insurance costs.

Property insurance rates in Florida are predicted to jump at least 40 percent in 2023, according to the Insurance Information Institute.

Mark Friedlander, the institute’s director of communications, said these increases come as Floridians are already paying more than homeowners in other states.

“Right now, Floridians pay arguably the highest average premium in the U.S.,” he said.

Friedlander said the average Florida homeowner is paying $4,231 for their property insurance, which is nearly triple the national rate of $1,544.

Well this is what the people voted for. Complete disfunction in exchange for petty fights.

More unintended consquences created by Ronald Dion.

There are some fantastic made in USA drones out there. The limitation is they're either made for military or they cost way too much to be sold to civilians forces.
