Per CNN, DeSantis will announce his 2024 POTUS bid some time next week.

Now how is it that we all knew that all this dickish culture war shit he's been pulling in Florida was just a performance meant to steal as many of the crazies from Trump as he can?

Funny this is coming out right after Disney announced reversing its decision to set up a new office in Florida. I guess DeSantis figures he may be POTUS after 2024 so if FLA goes to shit it won't matter to him.

Disney should pull Disney World out of Florida. And anything else they have there. And their lawsuit should seek monetary damages for having to relocate which I'm sure is quite pricey,

It's not as though they don't have the money, since they own approximately 47% of all creation at this point.

Sure but as I said, they can recover the relocation expenses from the state of Florida under their existing lawsuit for damages under 43 USC 1983. It's an open and shut case. The law says plainly that no government entity can take retaliatory actions against anyone for exercising their 1A rights and DeSantis has publicly admitted that this is exactly what he's doing. If that action has made it too difficult for them to continue to do business in the state, then their relocation expenses are legitimate recoverable damages.

It was mostly a facetious post 😋
I'd love to see that happen though.

Great, a race to the bottom of who can be the shittier human being.

It's going to be ugly and miserable. My only hope is that it results in a split in the party and a guaranteed Biden presidency in 2024.

Chris Hayes just had a pretty good takedown in his opening monologue of Desantis' hypocrisy when it comes to how he sees the parental choice of covid masks/vaccines vs gender affirming care.

If that actually happened it would bankrupt the state. Just the new Star Wars land was a billion dollar investment.

I read the gay community in Florida will cancel their gay pride parade because of DeSantis. I think that is the wrong reaction. Those who support DeSantis would love for the gays to just go away and be silent and invisible. LGBTQ need to fight back against DeSantis, not retreat.

Just imagine if DeSantis were elected president. He would do the same nationally as he is trying to do locally in Florida. But I do hope that businesses all over the nation realize that a president DeSantis would pull the same crap on all business large and small as DeSantis pulls on Disney.
After all, speaking nationally.... there are a lot of pro LGBTQ businesses out there that DeSantis would love to go after, then impose his anti LGBTQ beliefs upon. A president DeSantis is not going to stop at Disney. To have a president DeSantis would open up thousands, potentially millions of new targets for a president DeSantis to go after.

Just imagine a president DeSantis passing his new laws and imposing his new regulations allowing business to ask applicants, to ask potential employees, and to even ask current employees about their religious beliefs and about their sexual beliefs and sexual orientation and questions on how an applicant feels about blacks, Muslims, gays, trans people, democrats in general, republicans in general, and asking questions about every other minority under the sun. And then, allowing an employer to use that information to hire or not to hire. Add to that, having that employer no longer required to tell the applicant why the applicant was not hired.

Yeah, DeSantis is extremely bad news for business and small business. Case in point, Disney. Where Disney has the billions to fight back yet most businesses do not have that ability financially. Frankly, a president DeSantis would be more of a threat to business than to the LGBTQ community. I do hope that American business realize this before it's too late, and I hope business will inform their employees on how a "president DeSantis" could threaten jobs. This goes far beyond his simply attacking the trans community.

Don't forget education. I can't imagine who he would appoint as secretary of education, but I'm sure they'd be worse than even DeVos was. And someone who will support and follow his whims, of course.

Banning books with any hint at sexual content, sex education in primary schools, removing books with the true history of America and how it was started and built. No mentioning of sexual things, or gender, or menstruations, or anything Mr. DeSantis thinks is filthy. If you say "gay", you're going to jail!

He's doing/done a lot of damage already in FL to schools, even fucking with colleges. I guarantee he'd try to pull it off across the country, given the opportunity.

Yes you are right, they should fight to keep their rights. But with how ass backwards red states are becoming, it’s just easier to move to a blue state.

Remember how Howard Dean's shout basically ended his Presidential campaign. Well I'm hoping that Ron DeSantis' maniacal laugh does the same for his campaign. He may have already ended it with his stupid culture war and stance against Disney.

Yeah, that's easy for you to say when it's not your neck on the line. I sure the fuck wouldn't want to be queer in Florida holding a protest parade in the current environment, with his ever-watchful eye making sure to have the reich cops on hand--you think it would be a pleasant experience to get that beat-down from the cops, and then tossed in the shittiest cell with the shittiest people they can find? No fucking thank you. Just about guaranteed to have some sexual assault tossed in just for extra spiciness.
They're still having other Pride events, and restricting the age on others.

So they think Disney intentionally made the announcement right now because they knew DeSantis was set to announce for POTUS.

https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/19/politics/desantis-disney-feud/index.html

If so, LOL. I have zero sympathy as he brought this on himself.

Trump is taunting him, saying he got caught in a "Mouse Trap." Which actually isn't bad. Might be the first time Trump ever made me laugh with him instead of at him.

I do remember the Howard Dean kerfuffle and it shows how pathetic the American political scene really is.

DeSantis. He cares so much about your kids he hides black history from them.

However, guns killing kids? Meh! Those little basterds can deal with active shooter drills
