a whinging bitch is what we called it back in the day.Little bit of a body shaming term.
But basically means a person is overcompensating for other shortcomings. Some signs are being overly aggressive (DeSantis going after "woke" and Disney), and being loud about it. Treating others with disrespect to show them how masculine you are.
Redfern, DeSantis's press secretary, told Yahoo Finance the governor continues to look for ways to lower costs and draw more insurers to the state. "We continue to work with the Office of Insurance Regulation to monitor the market’s stability," Redfern said. "Even the most aggressive reforms will take time." That requires patience voters may lack.
He's very lacking in a grifting salesperson sort of way.DeSantis is baby Trump but a little smarter and savvier. However he is just as evil.

Conventions that were going to be held in Florida are cancelling. At least 6 organizations decided against holding their conventions in Florida.
One of the groups cited "Governor DeSantis" as the reason.
Some of the larger conventions bring in millions each in economic benefits, as the convention goers spend money on hotels and other living accommodations, food, and other spending.

anyone want to make a guess as to what housing prices will look like as a function of time/sea-level?
It'd be interesting to know how much Airbnb type rentals are driving those prices up. In a lot of places in FL there are whole neighborhoods/condo complexes of short term rentals.

Southwest FL is a mess. After the hurricane, those middle class and below, can't afford to rebuild to new standards. Rich Mfr's buying houses for lot prices with cash. So FL ain't so affordable. No more cinder block with sprayed on stucco and chicken wire houses. What's a mother to do.

The irony being, it's probably zoning laws they are using to ban them. I agree with you on "unfucking" zoning though, as opposed to tossing it out. Most towns and cities and municipalities around me have essentially banned short-term rentals like that. In some areas if you live in a multi-family as your primary residence you can Airbnb a unit inside. But it's absolutely illegal to just own properties and short-term rent them.
Until we unfuck the housing problem in this country by seriously eliminating parts of zoning laws in different ways and areas, It just has to be like this.
Huh, seems like maybe he should be doing something about this instead of going around the country begging for donations and embarrassing himself:

".....$7 million was poised for a training program for electrification contractors."
Well...I don't know whether to applaud DeSantis or laugh at him.
DeSantis vetos $377 million in funds, mostly for energy-efficiency rebates and electrification programs. DeSantis don't want none of your woke electricity. Only the cleanest coal and gasoline products for Florida Man.
