sorry about that. back around christmas time I bought a video card..got it home and got no signal screen. Took it back and it worked just fine on their computer..got back home and tried..still no signal. googled and googled and just assumed my old computer couldn't handle it. So a couple weeks ago my brother bought me a new computer with a 3060 in it..sick computer btw..and once again no signal screen. Took it back and no problem on their end. Got home tried again and no signal..so it finally dawned on me, hmmm maybe its the hdmi cord...sure enough it was the cord. atleast the vid card i bought in christmas is still a nice upgrade for the old computer I am not a smart man jennay but i know what love is

So, I don't really do "twitch", but what exactly is the incentive to follow someone if they don't have a camera/mic?
The allure of watching other play games pretty much escapes me.

I don't know why this is a hard concept. Everyone watches football, basketball, cricket, chess, poker, go, and etc.

Gaming has become so sophisticated, it can support multi-million dollar competitive tournaments (which is old news by about 15 years). Just like games played above, people like to also play video games as well as watch others play gaming.

In a game called Overwatch (FPS), I'm learning this new character. I was wondering how the Top500 grandmasters played, so I watched a clip on youtube. I learned a lot from his movements, mechanical execution, as well as utilizing his game sense / awareness for strategy.

Not much different than watching a chess game or NBA finals (go celtics!). The entire Gen X & millennials grew up with the explosion of modern gaming. (NES/SNES/genesis to Xbox/PS today) Twitch is also old news. Look at hundreds of millions of viewership that exceeds network TV primetime ratings. It is big and advertisers chase after it where people are.

Watching a clip of a game to learn to play it better isn't really the bread and butter for Twitch as far as I understand it, people are consuming it like other forms of entertainment.

I see. In the same vein, I don't want to just watch some clips. I watch some Twitch of pro players in a real game to see how they open up, how they participate in teamwork, and finish through the game.

Then I think it becomes a 'personality' thing. You watch it for the person's personality then you just watch it like a podcast.

I don't watch too much of Twitch myself.

I have to admit that in this case, yes, I might actually see what he's got going on. But Mayne is special.

i watch a good amount of stuff on twitch. but, there is a bunch of stuff other than gaming on there that doesnt need a camera/mic set up. i follow nasa, i follow a relaxing music and trivia channel. mxc has a channel where they play the show 24/7. i think there is a channel that plays anthony bourdain's show 24/7. tourist/travel channels. you dont need camera & mic for those necessarily.

twitch may have started with gaming, but there is a lot more out there. you can watch artists creating, singers, dudes working on cars, and big booba girls in any variety of "shows". some conventional creators will do twitch streams with Q&A sessions.

i also watch people play games because i like gaming. its fun to see mistakes, silly stuff, weird glitches, and to see someone finally get that boss, or beat that level. and i watch rpg related content, and people playing tabletop games.

I don't care for podcasts either

im curious about when people say this, why dont you care for them? the sheer amount of variety means there is probably a podcast for something you like. or is it solely the format you have issue with?

If I'm interested in a game enough to want to watch another person play (aside from a short Youtube walk-through video or maybe a funny cut-scene) I'm interested enough to play it myself.

And I've searched for Mayne's user-name twice now with no luck... was going to follow him even if I won't actually watch much.
