Mayo on hamburgers

Personally when I make burgers at home I'll put Mayo. Some places put too much Mayo which is nasty. I can't stand a ton of Mayo. Just a little Mayo for taste and texture. I hate it when places put so much sauce/condiments where they overpower the beef.

I like mayo in virtually every instance in which meat is placed between bread. I have no use for it otherwise, but in those cases it seems to bind everything together quite nicely.

mayo on a burger is a yes, about half of the spots I eat at put it on by default. The other half use thousand island, which is fucking disgusting on a burger. Or anything else for that matter. With the exception of In N Out I can't think of a "secret sauce" place that doesn't have Mayo if you ask.

Yes Mayo is good on a burger.

You put the tomatoes on next to the mayo. (just like on a good BLT sandwhich)

Mayo + real tomatoes > ketchup.

Alton Brown taught me it helps keep the moisture in the burger and not sogging up the bun.

for me that is a perfect summer time burger to enjoy on the deck on a saturday eveing with a Stella or two.

Hellmann's Mayonnaise ( Best Foods to you Yankees), Heinz Ketchup and French’s mustard on all burgers.

Oh and has anyone tried the new Hellmann's Mayonnaise with added Franks Hot wing sauce? We just got some I have not gotten to try it yet. I can only imagine the best two condiments for sale combined into some sort of magical Alpha and Omega of condiments:

I can't remember the last time I went out to a restaurant and eaten a burger. I pretty much only eat hamburgers grilled at home. For some reason they just taste better. I usually go with a slice of Pepper Jack along with a nicely 'just charred' bun, usually an Italian roll. I butter the bread and toast them right on the grill until the inner part has got some nice charred grill marks. Best burger ever.

Yeah I have to get one of those. I've never tried one but I hear they work well. It's just I'm afraid Alton Brown will stalk me and berate me for having a uni-tasker. And I'm still going to want to keep my knives sharp for other stuff all the time anyway.

eh? unitasker? it's a knife. if something needs cutting it works. also works well on cheese, citrus, sausage (seriously, they're the same kind of knife), etc.

I prefer mine dry unless the burger itself is dry, then I'll add a bit of ketchup.
