What is wrong with Miracle Whip exactly? It's just mayo with some paprika and sugar. If that's enough to "make it disgusting" then you really have a low tolerance.

I am possitive that isn't what Miracle Whip is, for starters it has half the calories as mayo, if it was mayor with sugar added, then it should have more calories not less.

Miracle Whip is more than mayo with sugar.

Miracle Whip: a product blending mayonnaise products and less expensive salad dressing, including more than 20 different spices.

Mayo has oil, salt, and vinegar or lemon juice.

Mayo is a savory ingredient.
May is not a SWEET condiment.

I have never been into mayo or miracle whip...but sometimes it is a must have on a sandwich. I order or use real mayo and EASY on it. Miracle whip is just disgusting shit IMHO. At least REAL mayo is made with more natural ingredients. Read the labels...I guess there are some mayo brands that are just as nasty as miracle whip, but real mayo is a good condiment used in moderation. For me it is more about what it is made from.

If they add more than 20 different spices, you can't really taste them. I make Miracle Whip at home (do it once or twice a year when I have left over eggs)

Basically you make mayonnaise, which in itself is just egg yolks, vinegar or lemon juice (I make it with lemon juice if we have it with lobster), a little bit of sugar and some oil.

If I want to make Miracle Whip, you make a roux with some flour, water, a little more sugar, some paparika, and maybe a little dry mustard. Heat it up until it gets thick, then you add it to the mayo and whip it.

Miracle Whip is nothing more than mayo with a thickening agent added to it to make it creamier, and a few more light seasonings. There's nothing strange about it.

Miracle Whip = Water, soybean oil, vinegar, sugar, corn starch, eggs, salt, mustard, paprika, spices, garlic

I don't understand what's so unnatural about these ingredients.

Oh, and I prefer MW over mayo, but I'll use mayo if MW is not available.

I thought Miracle Whip WAS Mayo, just the name of the company that makes it. So they're two different things?

Kraft makes mayonnaise and salad dressing. Their salad dressing has the cute name Miracle Whip. Just like they make all kinds of cheeses but some of them get the special name Velveeta.

Helmanns also makes mayo, as does Dukes. All mayos are considerably better than Kraft mayo. And salad dressing should not even enter into the discussion because its used for different things than mayo. BUT, since they are sold next to each other, and they both come in the same style jar, and they are both white goop, sometimes people will mix them up.

Think you are missing something...

The main difference between Miracle Whip and mayonnaise are the sweeteners: high-fructose corn syrup and sugar are the fourth and fifth ingredients, respectively, of Miracle Whip.

Got this from this web page:

http://www.neatorama.com/2006/12/22/whats-the-difference-miracle-whip-vs-mayonnaise/

High fructose corn syrup is an ingredient that I avoid, and it is not natural.

I like them both and usually mix them when making something like tuna or egg salad.

I <3 Miracle Whip.

Although I'm not fond of mayo, it'll do when there's a lack of Miracle Whip.

Hellmann's > other mayo > just about anything else in the salad dressing section > Miracle Whip.

Duke's Mayonnaise, accept no substitutes, especially none of that weak ass Hellmans shit. I've gotta be able to taste the vinegar!

^^ What he said. I'm in Texas and it's damn hard to find here, but if you're in the Carolinas or other parts of the south/east, you might be able to locate it a lot easier.

It's a LOT better than Hellmans, which in turn is a LOT better than Miracle garbage.

For those saying Hellmans though, I understand. I have some in my fridge right now, and it's just fine stuff, but once you've had Duke's, you'll wonder why anyone has anything else.
