Part of the reason others have to say it, including President Trump, is if they don't it won't get said.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...ht-his-media-coverage-mostly-negative-n806681
President Donald Trump frequently complains about media coverage of his administration, and a study released Monday confirms his suspicion: Most of it has been negative.

"The Pew Research Center, in a content analysis of the early days of the Trump presidency, found that 62 percent of the coverage was negative and only 5 percent was positive.

In contrast, President Barack Obama's coverage in early 2009 was 42 percent positive and 20 percent negative, the study said."

5% positive?

In all honesty do you think journalists and the media should have overwhelming negative coverage of the President of the United States? I know you hate the guy and you've stated so often enough, but do you think the mainstream media is actually doing their job with those numbers?
I think the mainstream media is essentially an arm of the Democrat Party and has been since Vietnam. That said, if you know the press is out to get you, wouldn't it make sense to be extra careful about what you say and do? Instead, Trump picks unnecessary fights, says monumentally stupid stuff on a daily basis, repeatedly says things that are demonstrably untrue, and generally acts venal, tone deaf, and just plain un-Presidential. I've been a Republican since Reagan, am benefitting from the Trump economy, and have been financially hit harder by Obamacare than by anything else since the Carter malaise, but that isn't going to stop me from admitting that Obama was a better President and just generally an all-around better person than is Trump, by a long shot. And it isn't that I hate him, any more than I hate Hillary; it's just recognizing that by virtually every metric I hold dear, he's a horrible person.

Yes, the mainstream media is intentionally stomping on Trump's toes every day, but it's hard for me to have any sympathy for Trump when he's equally busy shooting himself in the foot. Having the media negatively spin everything he says is a paper cut compared to seeing him running countless Secret Service agents up to their maximum hours simply because he prefers having the government pay his resort to slumming at Camp David. And that's just one example. Another would be the NFL controversy. I happen to agree with the guy, but it's a completely unnecessary fight, and Presidents don't have time or political capital for those. Puerto Rico would be another - why would he feel the need to attack the mayor of San Juan? So what if she says mean things about him - who cares? She's an idiot, and everyone knows it. Trump really needs to learn how to be the bigger man rather than just the loudest asshole. If he really wants revenge, nailing the emergency response in spite of her would make his point much, much better than some petulant tweets. Anyone qualified to be President should know that. Anyone qualified to be President should have learned that by fifth grade.

Trump's comments on wiping out PR's debt, tanked their bonds. Now the WH is backtracking on it. So not only do they don't get relief for the debt but higher interest rates too.

I figure the smart market insiders went short on PR bonds when the hurricane approached.

Shee-it, Sherlock. They couldn't pay before the hurricane let alone now. It's like trying to get blood from a turnip.

It's not like our Repub Congress has any intention of bailing them out, either. No matter what else happens, their task is to obtain tax cuts for their uber wealthy radical right donor base.

It's always amusing to see the left's usual useful idiots insist that those who slavishly follow in lockstep are thinking whereas those of us who side sometimes with the left and sometimes with the right are merely parroting.

Now it's time to sit back and wait for the inevitable exodus of Puerto Rican refugees flooding into the states. Mainly Florida, but who knows?

Each time I see a replay of Trump tossing paper towels at the people like he's tossing beads from a mardi gras float it really turns my stomach.

Why on Earth would that turn your stomach? It's the most useful and the most Presidential thing he's done in office. If I didn't know he has to come back and toss bandages to gunshot victims in Las Vegas, I'd want him to stay there on paper towel dispensery duties.

I beg to differ. Hiding in the oval office is the most presidential thing I can think of that he's done.
Take away his Twitter account and I'd agree.

My G-d, it just occurred to me that he likely has an encrypted satellite phone that allows him to Tweet from any place on Earth.

Good reply, I have to admit i'm pissed at the way the media is failing their obligation and you seem to be more pissed at the way President Trump is failing his.

i'd laugh harder if it weren't so goddamn depressing
Have you tried to imagine a product label for such an offering? I could see DT sitting on a golden toilet tweeting with a roll set next to him on the counter for when its time to wipe. He just wiped his ass with the people of PR so it would be par for the course.
