They were a biotch given the size of the storm and PR's location.Logistics, moving stuff around, figuring out who & what needs to be where & when.

"The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Puerto Rico received multiple allegations from residents across the island who say local officials in the territory have withheld needed FEMA supplies.
“People call us and tell us some misappropriation of some goods and supplies by supposedly politicians, not necessarily mayors, but people that work for the mayors in certain towns,” FBI Special Agent Carlos Osorio told The Daily Caller Wednesday.
Osorio explained, “They’re supposedly withholding these goods and these supplies and instead of handing them out to people who really need them, [there are claims] that [local officials] are assigning them to their buddies first–people that have voted for them or people that contributed to their campaigns or what not.”
He added, “So what we’re doing is looking into these allegations. That I can tell you is happening. Again, I cannot say that we have any ongoing investigation. We’re just corroborating these allegations.”

Agreed, they are US citizens in need of aid and help and it should be provided.Interesting--need more reporters on the ground to figure out the truth behind this. It's clear something weird is going on with all that aid sitting in the port. I had assumed that transport carriers on the island were having trouble moving goods because drivers weren't coming into work, or were waiting for road repairs.
If anything, this would be a good reason to send MORE federal human resources to PR (FEMA/Army/etc.) and not less.
you really read my post wrong. really, really wrong. It's amazing the narrative you're trying to peddle. PR was largely devastated. It's infrastructure largely devastated, roads, hospitals etc. The are without clean water, electricity, and even fuel to run generators, let alone fuel to run trucks. Honestly, this was poor preparation by the Federal government. Look at the federal response to Texas and that of PR. The fact that it took it time to get the US Comfort to the island says it alone, or did you expect the Puerto Ricans to pull themselves up and build hospitals and somehow generate electricity to support the hospitals right after the devastation?
I think I hit reply to the wrong message. The reply was to Fanatical's post I believe above yours.you really read my post wrong. really, really wrong.

I wish stupid shit like this was all there was to make fun of trump for. As it stands, these kind of stories don't amuse me anymore.
Right diagnosis, 180 degree wrong solution. When Americans are without clean water and medical care access and electricity and their leaders are unable to lead, the President needs to go around them, not throw a hissy fit. We could get a five year old to do that for free.He may be right in a retarded way. Local government in PR has been shockingly inept from not being able to unload supplies from container (still happening) to not having a plan on how get sick people to the naval hospital ship to seemingly having zero plans to clean roads.
Stacking up people to wait in an airport or on a ship to help doesn't help people it creates a traffic jam.
What Trump should do is assign a competent person to get over there and get stuff organized
Do some detailed reading about military logistics. It is truly incredible the masses of materiel required in modern warfare, and success or failure is literally a matter of life and death. Generals get paid the big bucks not just for strategic and tactical judgment, but much more so for logistical ability, for the best tactical plan in the world is useless if one cannot get the men and materiel to the schwerpunkt. Right now, most of Puerto Rico is the schwerpunkt, but generals capable of handling a corps or even a division regularly handle logistical challenges that would suffice for a fair sized city.wat?
People complaining about how slow things have been aren't taking all of the essential elements into consideration. PR's distance from the mainland is a mitigating factor in the slowness in the response. Nobody could prestage supplies in the storm which would've placed the ships at risk.Do some detailed reading about military logistics. Great, guess what comes next. Medical bills. On the other hand government officials shouldn't sanction things like allowing water from an EPA super fund site to be used for human consumption.

Anyone who thinks different should read up on the story of the cargo ship el faro that left Jax before a hurricane not so long ago and now rests on the bottom with all hands lost.
Yea, but is it 'ocean water'When you're dumb and sail a malfunction prone rust bucket into a storm shit like the El Faro sinking is going to happen.
The US mobilized a significantly larger logistical effort for the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Which, unless I am mistaken, is also an island surrounded by "big water".
As opposed to an orange man child playing with a rubber ducky in his bathtub.Yea, but is it 'ocean water'

"In an interview with USA Today, Puerto Rico’s delegate in the House of Representatives, Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon, discussed the aftermath of Hurricane Maria on the island and the way President Trump has handled the response.
"I will tell you that everything that the president said that he was going to send to the island, it's getting there. The resources are there. The help is there," Colon said."
"JENNIFFER GONZALEZ COLON: I was very surprised that the president was very aware of the situation on the island, having daily briefings in the situation room. He actually spoke with the governor once or twice a day, during the hurricane and after the hurricane. "
So the House of Representatives from Puerto Rico says President Trump is up on the issue and what he says is getting sent to help, is getting sent. Some wackbird of a mayor from San Juan is saying President Trump is committing genocide and murder. Do you poor victims of Trump Derangement Syndrome still believe in the major?
