He used a childish rant because it plays to his base and these childish rants are a useful diversion as an extension of his ego.

You mean how they've come to realize that Jesus wasn't magic? I suspect that the only way Trump will not stay on for more than four years is by way of a nuclear apocalypse. So maybe it's actually more like 50/50.Actually, a lot of supporters pretended that he wasn't... some of them still do. The difference is that those who saw the problems and voted for him anyway (including the people who bought into the "well at least he's not Clinton" crap) are more likely to realize that yes, all those problems Trump had before taking office were magnified when he came to office.
Remember, Trump is setting new lows for presidential approval ratings, even at Fox News, Rasmussen and other polls where you'd expect them to rubber-stamp just about anything a Republican-backed President would do. I suspect that the only way Trump will stay on for more than four years is by counting on gerrymandering and voter ID laws to rig the election.

This could be one of the moments that costs Trump and the Republicans big time, hopefully in 2018 but definitely in 2020.
All a Democrat has to do is remind people that Trump was launching personal attacks from his private golf course against the Major of San Juan for... asking for help during a major catastrophe. Instead of being a President and stepping up to the plate, he's making excuses and running away.

The new three-star general heading up recovery efforts Puerto Rico said Friday that the military has not sent enough troops there and is poised to send many more amid growing criticism over the Trump administration's response.
Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Buchanan said the military will add to the more than 4,000 troops already deployed for the disaster relief mission by sending more helicopters, mobile medical hospitals and personnel to help with distribution of supplies like food and water.
A week after Puerto Rico was slammed by Hurricane Maria, the Defense Department and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are ramping up operations and shifting to a ground-based recovery effort, but critics have pointed out that past disasters in Haiti and Japan were met with over 20,000 U.S. troops.
"No, it is not enough and that's why we are bringing a lot more," Buchanan told reporters Friday morning when questioned about the current troop level. "In particular aviation, we've got 25 federal military helicopters here and we're bringing many more. That is not enough."
Buchanan was just deployed to coordinate relief efforts on the U.S. territory where many of the 3.4 million residents are still struggling to get basic supplies such as food, water and fuel.
Democrats on Capitol Hill have been pressing this week for a bigger military response and urged President Trump to send the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which was sent to Florida following the powerful earlier storm Hurricane Irma.
"Dammit, this is not a good news story. This is a people are dying story. This is a life or death story," San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz said Friday.
But FEMA pushed back against comparisons of the response in Puerto Rico to earlier disasters.
"When we start comparing disasters, we don't like to do any of that because every disaster is unique in its own way," said John Rabin, an acting regional FEMA administrator who is heading up the relief efforts.
Puerto Rico has National Guardsmen who are very capable of handling the devastation, Rabin said.
Yesterday FEMA administrator Brock Long said the federal government would send thousands more federal troops and 10 more barges and ships loaded with supplies, including the U.S. Navy's hospital ship the Comfort. The Defense Department is also deploying a brigadier general to manage the response. Phillip Carter, who served in the U.S. Army and is now with the Center for a New American Security, says an even larger military force should be deployed - as many as 50,000 servicemembers.
PHILLIP CARTER: These aren't combat troops. What Puerto Rico really needs right now are support troops who can build tent cities and run power generators and help augment the staffs of hospitals or run military hospitals like MASH units. That's what Puerto Rico needs. So those kinds of support units are on the way, but they're not fully there yet.
