Didn't realize Trump was taking another long weekend to play golf when the crisis occurred. I remember when he said he wouldn't golf or vacation as POTUS. But the Trumpsters will say he deserves it for building that Wall that Mexico is paying for and the repeal and replace of ACA. Oh wait...

How Trump's weekend at N.J. golf club slowed response to Puerto Rico crisis

Here's a post from a man in PUERTO RICO across the street from the airport...
"I got online for the first time in days and one of the very first things I saw was an out and out lie about the government's response to the crisis I am in the middle of. I don't care if you hate or love Trump, using the crisis in Puerto Rico to spread political lies is disgusting! I am literally across the street from the airport, and the hotel I am in is where many of the first responders are staying, so here is what is going on from someone who is actually here seeing it.
The government is here and has been here! Every single day plane after plane full of FEMA, FBI, homeland security, army, Air Force, Marines, and extra police officers from all over the country shows up. Cargo plane after cargo plane and ship after ship full of supplies shows up. There is a hospital ship off the coast that I can see from the beach. The response was quick and it keeps coming!
They are out every day from sun up until sun down. This isn't a political issue, it is a humanitarian one. The lies being spread about the response aren't helping the people here, it is just fueling hate based on lies! If you want to help Puerto Rico, donate money or supplies and pray. If you want to play politics find something else to argue about! Not like there aren't hundreds of topics for you to choose from!
Edited to add this- Roads have been completely destroyed in many areas, especially the remote one. The military and FEMA are going out to these places on foot with 100 lbs + packs on their backs. It is requiring them to cut their way through flooded areas to get there. It will take time to reach everyone when conditions are as bad as they are...

I do like how this post from a man in PUERTO RICO has managed to see FEMA and military personnel carry 100# sacks of goods on their backs towards inaccessible towns (guess no one has heard of helicopters, eh?) down destroyed roads to help, yet is staying at a hotel at the airport the whole time. Telescopic eyes?

Hey, he's quoting "a man in Puerto Rico". How can you not trust a source like that?

It's mindboggling how a grown man, particularly in that office, can be such a childish douchebag. Again he pushes the limits of WTF and decency.

It's really all about him in his demented, warped little mind. We said he was a sociopath, and here he is proving us right for the 879th time. Dump voters, you are cordially invited to go fuck yourselves. You should be so ashamed.

It's official. No one in the country is more aware of how badly that last election went than Puerto Rico. https://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-09-14-katrina-probe_x.htm

I doubt Puerto Rico would be in such dire straights today had Hillary won. Unfortunately republicans learn about as much from natural disasters as they do from unnecessary wars.
While I find DT appalling PR would be in the same boat no matter who the president was. Their psychological state would be much improved if the president were a true statesman and handled them properly.

I'm sorry but these utter stupidity cannot go unchallenged. You don't need roads to provide aid, you can do that via helicopters and it's been done for at least 60 years in war zones where there was an actual risk the choppers would be shut down so why wouldn't it work here?
You aren't taking the logistics of this situation into consideration. We've had multiple impacts to our nation and our resources are already spread out across multiple states providing relief which is not the same as it is to the island of PR. Even so, DT has already proven that he doesn't care about anyone that he isn't personally benefiting from.

I like that line that FOX uses a lot when quoting their sources: "It's been said...." and that other old time favorite "reliable unnamed sources say" oh and let's not forget the FOX classic "The American people say that...." I gotta chuckle and roll my eyes every time they preface their commentary with those lines.

FOX gives the Comedy Channel a really hard run for their money.

To be fair, "reliable unnamed sources" have been quoted by pretty much every media source ever. But the rest, yeah, pretty much.

I know this forum is full of liberals , but this is overblown. The mayor is going on about genocide and 16 people died. Genocide is when your communist friends kill 20 million of their own people (aka Stalin) or 40-60 million (aka Mao). 16 isn't even Mexican earthquake territory.

16 people dying (so far, and so far as is currently known) is FOUR TIMES the amount that died in Benghazi. Refresh my recollection again-how many thousands of hours of Faux News time was used on that and how much of the TAXPAYERS' monies was spent on nearly a dozen congressional investigations?

Hypocrisy and double standards abound on the GOP side. Concern for humanity and fellow US citizens is notably absent.

Who's hospital ship does he see? Thought the Comfort wasn't supposed to arrive until the 3rd?

Lol oops. I for one am shocked that a random anonymous person claiming to be a Puerto Rican who just so happens to think the federal response has been great might not be real.

It’s interesting to see the bullshit machine spinning up to defend Trump yet again.

What is this "truth" then?

That the vast majority of the island is not without power or clean drinking water?

Water, food and fuel aren't being rationed?

That hospitals are powered and fully functional? Critically ill people are not dying?

That floodwaters aren't laced with sewage and decomposing carcasses?

That there is not a severe danger of a cholera and typhoid outbreak?

That we've done every humanly thing possible to get assistance on the ground in PR?

Please, enlighten is to this good news story that seems to be missing.

Yeah that "quote" from someone in Puerto Rico seems to be completely untraceable to an actual source. Best I could find is people saying it came from a Tucker Carlson Facebook fan page on Reddit that is private.
