why does the ring fill with 50 hangers on at the end of boxing matches?

I've always wondered that myself, turns it into complete chaos. That's one thing you don't see in the UFC, aside from cameramen, athletic commision and other ufc employees, the fighters are only allowed to have like 2 or 3 people in the ring after the fight.

Same with the weigh ins.

From what i have read about what happened i don't feel sorry for Ortiz at all. he takes a illegal shot and mayweather made him pay. next time maybe he will fight within the rules

yeah duran was great. that was one of the fighers that got me into (and sugar ray) watching boxing.

yeah it was a cheap shot. Ortiz should have been ready from the start. nobody is saying it was illegal or he mayweather should be stripped of the win. just that it was a cheap shot.

The ref clearly says "let's go" and motions for the fighters to resume several seconds before. For some reason the ref was looking to the side and talking to someone at the side of the ring after motioning for them to go, but he did start the fight.

Yeah, I'm not too sure what the ref was looking at, there was either some question from one of the judges or an issue with the time keeper.

And, what the fuck was Ortiz looking at!!! I almost think Ortiz was expecting a DQ rather than a point deduct.

So he brings the fighters together, leaves focus of the fighters, turns to the time keeper and tells him to start the clock. Ortiz thinks he isn't reffing yet and waits for him to finish.

This ref is archaic, and as british commentators said after the fight, "is going to get a fighter killed one of these days." Before the fight, one of them basically said he had already become too slow and ineffective to ref a bout.

thats how it looked to me. the ref looked as if he was talking to someone on the side and not paying attention to the fighters.

i don't blame mayweather or ortiz. i do think that mayweather saw a opturnity to get a shot in that was legal but also cheap.

Ortiz should be suspended. There is no place in boxing or the mma for fighters to blatantly try and injure their opponent. Floyd lost his cool too, but it was within the rules, barely.
