Completely subjective. Why would anyone pay to watch a 38 year old fight a 36 year old? That's like paying to watch a 71 year old Mick Jagger perform. Sure, there are people stupid enough to do so, but why would you want to be one of them?

That might be true but why would any MMA fight be worse then? And I do think this is probably one of the most overhyped matches ever that I have seen.

Because, even past their prime, these are the two best boxers in the last 30+ years. Had this fight happened in 2009, it would have been the greatest boxing match of all time. Even with it happening now, it still stands to be one of the best.

Wow, that is some class A bullshit.

Eh, who didn't see this coming? Mayweather is known to love making money and in the previous negotiations for a fight between these two, Mayweather even tried to screw Manny (offering only a flat fee and not a percentage of the purse).

There are reports that businesses are offering to buy celebrities front row tickets in exchange for them wearing a hat or tshirt with said company's logo on it.

Yeah I know, but I can still hate it and hate Mayweather. Fuck that guy.

Mayweather does play the part of a bad guy really well. He is cocky and good enough to be that way. He is maximizing the money he makes while he can.

Fight should have happened years ago, but I can't wait. I hope Pacquiao destroys Mayweather.

Insane prices for those ringside tickets. Maybe to justify for the purses for each fighter. You can buy a very nice car like a 2015 Tesla Model S P85D (AWD 691hp) at Floor A. ^_^

I can already guess Lameweather made sure the ring would be something like 40x40, well, a big ring lets just say.

I would bet some of the people who get them via the casinos and promotion companies turn around and resell them. More will come on the market. But still it won't be cheap. I bet the cheapest tickets will go for $5000 on the after market sites.

Edit: Just looked them up on StubHub. No joke, the cheapest ticket is $5445.00 That was a pretty good guess.

I'm paying for the fight and I'm going to see Mick Jagger perform in a couple of months. IDK, to me it's worth it.. to each their own though.

Screw is a very subjective word, Mayweathers original offer was more than fair, Manny turned it down only to turn around and get about 1/4th of Floyd's offer for his next fight. Manny was expecting an even split of the money. But he's nowhere near the draw, that's not how it works. On the flip side Mayweather's next fight, he got about 5x what Pacman got for fighting Joshua Clottey.

Yup the original offer was 50%. After all of the losses and Manny fighting nobodies, Floyd had complete control of the negotiations by this point.

In 2009, Manny was offered 50% but the reported contention was day before blood tests. Manny wouldn't do that. In 2011, Manny still was on top of his game and Mayweather offered $40 mil flat fee for what would have been a $300+ million dollar purse. They wouldn't even take a 60/40 split. That is beyond fucking stupid. It wasn't until 2012 that Pacquiao lost twice in a row and lost the giant appeal.

Offering a flat fee of $40 million for what is a super fight, is beyond fucking retarded.

It's not stupid, Mayweather was far more the reason it would have been a super fight than Pacman. Look at both of their fights since. Mayweather was doing way way higher PPV numbers and making a shit-ton more money. 60/40 was fair because Floyd was still making $40+ million a fight without Manny. Where Manny was making low double digits, or like against Clottey iirc 8 million.

Pac vs Clottey = 8 million
May vs Ortiz = $40 million

And if the rumors are correct, Pac's still taking far less $$$ than Floyd here, yes he'll be making more than the original fight would have paid him. But he's still not going to make close to what Floyd will. That was his one of his original reasons he refused the 1st contract years ago. A brutal KO loss and a few not so good fights will humble a boxer I guess. When he loses I suspect Floyd will offer him 70/30 on a rematch and he will eat it up this time around.

It is absolutely stupid. This is, money wise, the biggest fight of their of their careers. Mayweather knew this in 2009, and hasn't forgotten it. I believe the split this time is 60/40 and that is likely going to be over $150 million for each. A $40 million flat fee in 2011 (before Pac fell off) would have been highway robbery and it makes sense they declined it, especially considering Pac had a very good chance of winning IMO. I mean, I don't fault Mayweather's team for asking for that (since, it would have been great for them), but they couldn't have possibly expected this to be the case.

I really feel whoever loses this fight retires. Pac simply because he's mostly done (you don't see the same guy that destroyed De La Hoya in the ring anymore) and Mayweather because he has nothing left to prove. He made his millions and can get out having lost to one of the best fighters of the past 20+ years while beating nearly everyone else.

Mayweather has 1 more fight under his contract with Showtime.
