I work a BJ's Wholesale Tire Center and I had a chance to work on one of these cars. Man this is one slick car. I drove it around the lot after I was done changing its tires. I want one now.

I enjoyed mine while I had it. No regrets on the pruchase...thought if I had known when I bought that my job would be moved from ATL to DC 18 months later, I may not have bought it.

I am car-less here in DC...and that is just fine with me. I may move my Miata up at some point though.

I bought my 2001 Mustang in May of last year with 22k miles on it and I'm just now about to break 30k miles.

Yes, I want the Mazda 3 GT. I am still debating between this and the Civic though, due to gas concerns. The Civics do look good in person. I still want the Mazda 3 however.

By the way, MBrown, was it an automatic or manual?

I'm also debating whether I should get manual or automatic. I do about 65% highway driving and 35% city driving, so I don't know.

I did 50/50 in ATL traffic with a manual. It is a good tranny in that car. Don't be a pvssy. Drive the stick!

BUT be warned...it can hurt resale value...I know!

My wife has a 2005 Mazda 3s with the manual transmission. Zoom zoom, for sure! Comparing it to my Ford Contour SVT, it was cheaper, faster, corners better and gets better gas mileage on regular unleaded versus the premium I have to put in mine. However, mine is more comfortable over uneven roads (maybe from the softer suspension or higher profile tires).

Manual. What impressed me was the lights on the speedo and tachometer They light up blue.

I see--so what impressed you were the pretty blue lights! Did you know the visor has an illuminated mirror too!

Sorry--I was just kidding. That's the line that car salesmen stereotypically tell women when they shop for cars--for putting on make-up.

I would think a stick might help resale value, since it's so rare. In any case, you should go with what you enjoy, not what will get you a couple hundred dollars more several years from now.

Then you'd get worse gas mileage in the auto.
What's your point?
