I feel lame posting on ATOT about this...
But, Deloitte & Touche vs Ernst & Young

I got offers from both (enterprisk risk services @ deloitte, tsrs @ e+y) essentially for what amounts to IT audit.

I plan to work for 2-3 years, come back, and get an MBA. My undergrad is MIS/Accounting(or fina)

That being said, which is more prestigious and why? I'm leaning towards going w/ Deloitte because of their consulting practice, but both places are so close in so many factors that it's coming down to B.S. like this. Employee growth at D+T was 20% last year, E+Y, -2%...and Deloitte is #1 by revenue but they have their consulting practice

Thanks a lot guys..

Rubens

update: Signed on with Deloitte this morning. They seem to have a stronger organization.

I am thinking, and I don't know this, that I doubt there are too many hot chicks doing IT security audits.

regardless get ready to work you ass off dude, long ass hours, not a lot of real IT work, a lot of documentation, etc etc.

Oh, and I've had experience with one of those two groups and I have to say they are worthless when it comes to IT.

Having hot chicks is critical in IT security. Just imagine this scenario:

Hot chick: What is the server password?
Computer nerd(thinking 'OMG a hot girl talking to me...'): I'm not supposed to say....
Hot chick: Pleeeease? I'll go out to dinner with you tonight if you tell me!
Computer nerd: Ok, ok... the password is startrek123.
Hot chick: Your company has just failed our IT security audit.

They key to passing security audits is RSA keys insted of x thousand of employees picking their own poorly secured passwords.

I've heard Deloitte on the resume is like Gold..

Look, I don't care what the hours are or how much the job sucks. I need the best for my resume and my next b-school. It's similiar work, different clients (but still fortune 500), and simliar methodologies..similiar people.

I want some insight from industry folks..

If you were in front of me, I'd cut your tie and stick it in your ass-kissing corporate lemming mouf.

You're really messed up with your thinking. I wouldn't even know where to begin with you. You have a lot of growing up to do, kid. (I guess in the Big 6's eyes, people like you are needed for those late night paper shredding sessions.

Choose your job based on the people who'll own your soul rather than so-called b-$kool prestige. Among the Big 6, there is no difference...unless it's Anderson.

It is the Big 4 now.

You are starting off wrong if you're looking for a company with the more prestigious reputation. You had better hope that there are not people in the consulting groups there that read this board and who can figure out who you are.

I wouldn't want to work for a company with a bad reputation, but Deloitte and E&Y are both fine.

actually you're wrong. and i'd like to thank you for at least trying.
I figured some down-to-earth industry folks would be able to give me some valuable insight, obviously im getting nothing.

As I mentioned earlier, I have close friends at both firms. Different enviornments, different advantages, close enough where I'm looking for the prestige factor at this point.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. If anybody here actually understood the nature of the accounting and consulancy industries, they'd understand repuation/prestige factor is KEY.

They both have about the same name. It really is how well you can perform within the firm. If people there support you and you create quality work mba schools will like you.

actually, no. i went through the college's recruiting system like any other person would.
It isn't really possible to "weasel" into organizations as large as these, although for post-graduate recruitment, Deloitte looks almost exclusively to referrals.
