no kidding, I don't even know how they stay in business since their anti-virus/firewalls don't do jack shit.

I personally wouldn't use it either (or any suite) but most folks only know about Norton, McAfee and Trend Micro. If their going to buy one of these then this deal would save them money. Plus a suite is just easier/convenient for most that don't care about learning security basics.

While I agree that this is a good price for a 3 user license of an anti-virus software, stay away from Mcafee. Like others who posted prior, 70% of the machines I had to do clean up due to virus infections had Mcafee or an older version of Norton installed on them.

For those of us who do use McAfee, if you have Comcast internet (or ATT DSL) you can download the suite from either of them for free. Full one year usage (not 90 day trials) and I have had no problem renewing it for free with either Comcast or ATT.

I'm certainly no expert, but McAfee's been fine for me. Years ago it was a PIA to update, but that's long been solved. OTOH, I still hate Norton (because it's so bloated).

For those that are saying 70% or most of the infected computers they clean have McAfee or Norton installed. Did you ever stop and think that is because they have a large chuck of the security market? Plus, if someone is hell bent on installing a "free screensaver" or "free smilies" or surfing Pron they are going to do it despite the warnings.

McAfee, Norton or whatever cannot save a person from their own actions. Security is a process and not something you buy in a box at Wal-Mart. IMO, If a person uses common sense, keeps Windows and their programs updated and uses McAfee's suite, I think they'll be fine.

P.S. I just checked av-comparatives.org last main test which was on-demand only and was in Feb. 2009 and McAfee AV scored Advanced+. Another test which is Proactive should be coming out in May so let's hope they keep up the trend.

QFT.

I use the the free Comcast McAfee and it's pretty awesome. I can really only compare it to Symantec, AntiVir and AVG, but I would say its better than all of them. It's caught every virus/worm that it's come across (mostly by USB sticks). This is a great deal for very good Av software.

Oh, and why doesn't everyone look at some independant tests of the AV programs? Here you go:

http://www.av-comparatives.org...ndret/avc_report21.pdf

The latest tests show McAfee in the top group. Go to the main site for more info. McAfee is also better than average performance-wise (time to scan). And I can also vouch that it is very lightweight and doesn't suck up computer performance.

I am been honest here. I just did a customer computer today and Mcafee was trying to remove one last trojan...it will remove it and it will come back...an endless loop. So, I disabled Mcafee and installed my trusty NOD32 and not only it removed it but actually found 21 more!
I guess if you are a fan its a good price but like someone said, I would install it even if they paid me.
