And just for the record, since I know it's coming - I supported Obama attacking Libya, I'm against attacking in Syria, and I'll support Obama attacking in Syria if as President he decides it's necessary. Syria has strong ties with Russia, Red China and Iran, all three of whom strongly oppose any kind of action deposing Assad. I'd love to see the Syrian regime overthrown, but I'd hate to see a regional war sparked. Then again, judging from other regional results, regime change in Syria might further empower radical Islam, making things even worse or Israel and Lebanon.

I don't know about McCain and Libya. I'm - not a McCain fan.

The article I read about McCain's proposal spoke of Homs and a few other places that would be protected by air cover to result in a safe haven for those opposed to Assad. Consequently, I don't believe there is any chance we will be bombing any Russian base that might be Syria.

I didn't like military action against Khaddyfi because was (at least semi) reformed and too many of the rebels were associated with AQ for my tastes.

Assad isn't reformed in any way, at all. But I'm still less than enthused about aiding his enemies.

Superficial comparisons between Libya and Syria are pretty useless. The political ramifications are enormously different. Any President who wishes to act in the best interest of this country must take those into account in deciding a course of action.

Do Neocons ever get sick of war? No, as in accordance with the 34th rule of acquisition. Does that mean that intervening in Syria is the wrong course of action? Not necessarily. Libya was a pretty easy decision to make seeing as how civilians were in direct, verifiable, and grave danger. In Syria, things are much less clear cut - and to top it all off, there is a high probability of starting a wider regional war if we do intervene in Syria. I'm still on the fence as I'm not sure that it is worth it - yet.
