 We used to keep a couple gallons of that in the fridge during the summer.

I'm so glad I moved back east since west coasters could never appreciate sweet tea.

I've had sweet tea a few times when I've visited NC, it's good. I'm going to gain 100 pounds when I move to NC in June between sweet tea and BBQ.

nothing like there here in MI.... just these crappy tasting variety coffees.

ahhh, you've got to make your own.

Fill a 48 ounce container 1/3 full with tap hot water
Steep 2 cold-brew tea bags and add sugar (or splenda) and wait about 60-100 secs.
Remove tea bag and stir until sugar is dissolved.
Fill with ice, stirring and poof you've got delicious sweet iced tea in about 3 minutes.

I will try that tonight! thanks! I have a hard time finding the cold-brew tea bags at the store though.

They both are good. It's hard to choose between the two. I have to give the edge to McDoanlds b/c it seems to have a "thicker" consistency to it.

here is how i make mine and its perfect

buy Liptons loose tea
put two scoops of loose tea in coffee filter and brew it through your coffee pot.

pour tea in the biggest pitcher you have and fill the rest with cold water and as much sweetner as you like.

enjoy.

tea is about all i drink (non-sweetened) and keep 3-4 boxes of liptons loose tea on hand just so i dont run out.

I have been in GA for about 6 months now and you OP are correct; the sweet tea is awesome. I'll be missing it when I go back to NY; be missing the Waffle Houses too.

Sweet tea=iced tea, right? I'd never heard the term "sweet tea" before watching one of those "Dateline: to catch a predator" shows, where the young teen tells the perv to drink some while she goes to do something in the other room.

Sweet tea is normally tea which has had sugar added to it while it was warm and is then cooled down and served with ice. Adding sugar to unsweetened iced tea just doesn't work well.

I don't see how people can drink unsweetened iced tea. It's just so nasty.

i dont see how people can crink coffee without cream and sugar... its just so nasty.

i like sweet tea, and here in az we have QT stations that brew it often. they also have unsweetened, so i mix them about 70% un 30% sweet. too much sweet. at a restaurant ill have it plain ole unsweetened tho. i like tea both ways.

Nope he, and I, live in NC.

Seems once you get to about VA border, or north, cold sweet tea gets you a lot of weird looks if you try and order it.

Umm...No. I have lived in Virginia my whole life and have been consuming sweet tea the entire time. It was one of those things as a kid that let us know that spring was here. My mother used to make it in a big clay pitcher. Maybe the new neighborhoods in Northern Virginia full of imports from the Northeast may not know about it but almost any native Virginian is very familiar with sweet iced tea.
I think Marlin was talking about McDonald's, not in general. I'd love to see sweet tea around here, but I don't think it's gonna happen. You'd think McDonald's would treat their hometown market better

Blame marketing...or more likely, blame your neighbors for not liking sweet tea

All the McDonalds here in Manassas have been selling it since it was introduced.

Thank marketing...or more likely, thank your neighbors for liking sweet tea

Weird, I thought the McAlister's here in Killeen, TX had the best sweet tea. I'll have to drive out to College Station one of these days to find out

Yes. But you northerners shouldn't feel too bad. The "secret" to our delicious tea down here is really just lots and lots of sugar.

Don't let anyone know I spoiled the secret

My recipe for home-made sweet tea is to dump a can of concentrated frozen lemonade (Minute Maid, store brand, whatever) into a 1 gallon size jug. Add 1 and 1/3 cup of Lipton iced tea mix and fill with water. Shake up to dissolve all ingredients.

Set in freezer for roughly 3 hours to make it slushy. Remove and serve... MMMMMMMMMMMMMM YUMMAY!

Oh sounds good. I bet that would be good mixed with Lemoncello or Peach Schnapps too!

Cheap Walmart store-brand Splenda FTW!

(Here I buy 275g bags, supposedly equivalent to 5lbs. of sugar, for $5.17 each. They last me several weeks too.)

Bojangles, McDonald's, and McAlister's round out my top three for best sweet tea.

I've been to multiple Chick-Fil-A's around Charlotte and they always have the worst, IMO. They always put way too much sugar in it.
