I felt it was TOO sweet. there was almost no "tea" flavor. just sugar water tasting.

Though, i am Indian and we do like our teas strong.

and chick-fil-a rocks.

BTW, how much sugar is in one of these cups....because this stuff really is SWEET.

You don't wanna know

In a large, there are 59 grams (14 teaspoons) of sugar :Q. Like I said, the secret ingredient is sugar.

Then again, it's less than you'd get from a Coke...

135lbs? WTF?

lol, that's almost an entire me!

I had never heard of "sweet tea" until this thread

I love iced tea; I'll have to try this sometime now

it's just Iced Tea with a crapload of sugar, the name is fitting. I like lemon in my tea but sweet tea is pretty tasty too.

I'll have to try it.

And what is with these whack ass "recipes" for sweet iced tea.

For a gallon of it, use 4 tea bags such as these: http://www.luzianne.com/template_buy_product.cfm?ID=43&

Boil 8 cups of water, steep them for 3-5min. Remove the bags and add about 1.25 cups of sugar (I find this to be a good level of sweetness, you might want a touch more.)

Then add this syrupy tea mixture to a gallon container and add cold water until the container is full. Stir well. Chill in the fridge and enjoy.

Nope he, and I, live in NC.

Seems once you get to about VA border, or north, cold sweet tea gets you a lot of weird looks if you try and order it.

Umm...No. I have lived in Virginia my whole life and have been consuming sweet tea the entire time. It was one of those things as a kid that let us know that spring was here. My mother used to make it in a big clay pitcher. Maybe the new neighborhoods in Northern Virginia full of imports from the Northeast may not know about it but almost any native Virginian is very familiar with sweet iced tea.

Sweet Tea, as a Virginian is also one of my favorite treats...It's very de-licious.

But to the OP I also love Starbucks so shove it. =p

We just got a bojangle's nearby(~10 miles away) recently and the two times so far that I have ordered sweet tea in the half-gallon jug, they have given me unsweet. I didn't feel like driving the 10 miles back to exchange it. I didn't think they'd make the same mistake again, so I didn't try it before I left the second time. So I have not had the opportunity to try it yet.

Wtf? Wow I've never seen Bojangles offer unsweetened iced tea. That sucks man. That's not even iced tea anymore Where do you live?

Also OP: it's expensive but if you can find a Carolina Cafe (there's one in Cameron Village iirc), their iced tea is pretty amazing (well, it was about 4 years ago... maybe they've changed since).

QFT, this is how you make homemade sweet tea

Not all places in the south have good tea though. Chick-fil-a and Mcdonalds are usually pretty consistent on the 'good' scale.

What makes the tea even better is to add some mint and if you want a lemon. All mixed together ='s awesomeness.

I always forget at least once when I go up north not to order tea, as it's always unsweetened and tastes horrible like that.

edit: and what the hell is a McCafe?

I LOVE sweet tea! (Have some next to me, actually.) Unfortunately here on the Central Coast of California, McDonald's doesn't have sweet tea. However, you can get an XL 42 oz drink for 69 cents. I don't know how long the deal is, but for 74 cents total I will add sugar to my own tea every now and again. When I lived in VA, the local Taco Bell had awesome sweet tea.

making some tea right now, I make it a little stronger than most because I like my tea extra dark. I'm trying to cut most of the sugars our of my diet, so I'm using Spleda to sweeten it, not really too bad, I notice a difference but a little lemon and it's almost identical. Spenda = t3h expensives though, I think it's like 4 times the price of sugar.

Since my reply on page 1 I've moved to NC and I now have easy access to this liquid crack. Today some nice lady left a gallon of homemade sweet tea in the break room at work with a "help yourself" note. I feel like a jerk because I've already had three glasses, but damn is it good. But hey, if no one else is getting up to get any, more for me! MMMMMMM!!!!
