I signed up for this on their web site, didn't get any e-mails or anything. How long does it take and also does it come by snail mail or e-mail. Thanks

How long does it takes to get GC?
I signed up today talking CSR and she told me it will take 5~7 business days.
I want to get the GC by this week so I can take advantage of amazon's free shipping which ends 12/10.
Does it really come within a week?

I work, I profit from my labor, I buy things. I repeat process. I am a small business. The business of life.

Not that they asked when I signed up my 2 lines.

Just did it yesterday......smoothly.

I mentioned Amazon GC right at the beginning and the guy just guided me through out the whole thing without asking me if it was for "small business" or "promotional code".

weird thing was that, on the talk with 3rd party to verify my info........the lady asked me if I wanted to use my lastname as my business name, of course, I said "yes" and everything went fine.

MCI CSR I dealt with told me to call my local phone co' to verify the change to speed up the precess.

Same here, called the 877 number listed here or on the other site. The lady lead me through the whole thing and asked for the name of my company. I have done computer repair for years and have a non-inc non registered name for it that I have used at comdex and many places for many years. I explained that my small business is very small and has no employees other than me. Okay by them and up I signed...

Just a question... I understand you can do this deal, get the GC then revert back to your previous service (I get $.05/min anytime on Sprint). Can you then do it AGAIN? You may be able to get up to $300 in CG...

Just a thought!

Grimas:

I was wondering along the same lines, depending how long this MCI promo lasts. Leave MCI, go over to AT&T for $50, back to MCI for $150, and so on. Saw a banner-ad that Essential/Qwest (that's who we just left) is back up to $75 cash, but it's an enforcible 6 month signup (since the contract is with the reseller, and not the telecom company), so not worth the trouble.

I gotta find a way to do this with payphones. I've got a few on property I own, and wouldn't mind playing musical providers with them....

I signed up for the MCI deal on their web site. I went to the main page and then clicked on "Small Business". On the SB page there was a huge promo banner button advertising the Amazon deal. I clicked on that and filled in about 10 blanks with info. I put my name for "Name of Business". The screen said 5-7 days.

...holding my breath...

Anyone know the difference between the designation of home vs. business in the eyes of the telcos? Just wondering if you switch from residential to business, can you later revert back to residental? Does it matter?

Home vs business only really matters as far as your local phone company is concerned. Whatever the LD co calls you makes no difference (other than they can charge you a slightly higher FCC PICC fee). They are not changing your designation with the local company, so it's no big deal at all.

To get an AT&T $50 Supercertificate follow the following link:

ATT $50

You get the Supercertificate by email about a week after signing up.

Wassup opines:

<< switching back and forth? i'm SURE that's illegal... >>

I seriously doubt that it's "illegal" to switch back and try to get in on the deal twice. Possibly not allowed by the MCI system. Maybe immoral. Arguably unethical. But not illegal.

Will anyone who has done this please share the good news and confess?

If not, it looks like I may have to be the sacrificial lamb and give it a shot. First I'll need to confer with my clergyman about the moral and ethical aspects...

On the website it says deal ends 12/31/00

Anyone have the number to call for the deal, I'd rather do it over the phone.

By the way, I tried signing up for the AT&T $50 again after having switched to MCI, and the web page wouldn't let me complete the transaction. I could do it if I used another phone number, but not if I was using the same number that I used for the original $50 deal.

I have heard that AT&T has been calling customers and asking them to switch back in exchange for $80. If anyone knows more about this (like the special promotion phone number), please post.

Does anyone know if one can switch LD plan if the phone isn't under his or her name? My roommate has it under his name and I want to switch it. Also, to whomever successfully did this deal, is it okay to switch back if you're not satisfied with the service? No fine print on committment or such?
