Finally got my package! $150 amazon gift cert, $5 check for switching expenses, and 2 phone cards... all in the same package...

I just called and switched to MCI. Was told it will take 7-10 days to get the welcome package, which will include the GC. Here's to hoping!

Being at a party I told about this deal and a friend of mine called them at 10 pm on Dec 31 and guess what: They said they cannot honor the deal anymore, as it was past 12:00 at their timezone.
Now if Amazon would pricematch AND bring back those coupons...

I received my GC's, but when i went to purchase some things, the checkout page, "Due to restrictions on your gift certificate, it cannot be applied to the entire purchase"

What are the restrictions on the gift certificates?

and does anybody have the phone number to call amazon customer service?

filled out the online form over 2 weeks ago.....called to verify and they had no record 3 days later so I called the 877 number and signed up over the phone. Called yesterday to verify and they had " no record" and said the deal has expired. I ain't even gonna repeat what got said next

I signed up (on the internet) around the 13th of Dec. Got the welcome kit with no GC. Called them on the 21st, and the rep said they would send it out. I then recieved my first bill yesterday (Jan 3rd) with no GC, so I called them, and they said we were to late to get the GC and they would credit my account $150. Another funny thing is I called the number to check what LD carrier I am using and it still says AT&T. So how do I have a bill when I haven't even used their service. MCI is suck to this point, and $150 credited to my account is hardly justification, I am switching back to AT&T when this credit is gone!

i have some friends that got shafted in the original run on this deal. calling back and complaining the CSRs said that they would send out a new one in 5-10 business days (a new one). so they still are sending them out, i don't think i'd accept the $150 credit, the amazon.com GC is worth much more. i say they should follow their original side of the deal when we signed up, if i wasn't switching out before i surely am now simply because of the poor service i've seen.

I signed up on-line in mid December, and received the Welcome Pack within a week. No Amazon GC. Called MCI customer service on 12/21, and they said the GC was packed with the Welcome Pack.

I double checked, wrong.

Called MCI customer service again, they said they didn't have me down for this deal. They would correct situation, and I should have GC in 7-10 days (too late to be used for Christmas).

Wrong, again. So I'm going to call MCI customer service (term used very loosely) again.

A question for those who did recieve their GC. I assume it consisted of a GC code to be used at Amazon? If so, why couldn't MCI assign the code through their CSR? Or e-mail the code? Has anybody been told they WILL NOT receive the GC?

Knighthawk The coupon should come attached to the bottom of your sheet that has the calling cards and also the $10 check at the top to pay for switching by the local telephone company. It is possible you could miss it if not looking for it...although it is 1/4 of a sheet of paper.

The Amazon coupon is printed on the same sheet of paper as the MCI paperwork, not a separate item to be included by a CSR or anyone else.

My story: I signed up online probably middle of Dec. waited a week and heard nothing...so I called them. Talked to 2 people who never heard of the deal(and had no record of my online transaction), then transferred to small business "customer service" and she knew what I was talking about. I said about 3 times as I was signing up "so you are going to send me a GC for HOW much?" and "you are sending that with my welcome package?"...and she said that was what she was doing. Got the GC about a week later.

If I were in a position where I got nothing...I would try to talk to the Small Business services customer service...not the generic MCI reps.

I signed up on Dec 31. Just got my coupon yesterday on the 8th. Used it to buy a 14.4V Milwaukee Cordless drill I'd been eying in the tool section for the last few months. I figured I might as well use it for that because most of their electronics and computer supplies seem to be out of stock. I don't think the future looks too bright for Amazon.com

had to do 3 calls and 2 weeks to get it fixed.
got a bill for $8.54 and my service isn't on.
called them and told them to shove it

the bungholes at mci didnot even give me the credit for changing my LD carrier, called for my gift cert, the rep put in a memo for me and told me I will get a reply by 10 business days, mind you I signed up in nov 22 some, I think it is BS to just make me keep mci for another 10 bus days, let see how else they can screw me. ahhhhhhhhh

I called in to switch on 12/31/00 at 10:30 PM CST - a woman cheerfully signed me up and told me that I had made it right before the deadline.

I received an envelope yesterday (1/8/01) containing the $150 GC and a $10 check to cover switching over!

Now to figure out what to purchase!

Has anyone who originally received a welcome kit WITHOUT a gift certificate been able to get one subsequently?

Like serveral of you, I received a welcome kit without a gift certificate, called a CSR and was told the gift certificate would arrive in 7-10 days. This was three weeks ago. There seems to be a pattern whereby if you didn't get the gift certificate in the original kit you either a) get a $150 credit instead or b) get completely hosed. Anyone able to avoid this trend?

I called when I got the welcome kit but no GC, and they said they would send it out, 7-10 days.
After time expired, and they sent me my first bill, I called again on January 5th, and they said that yes, they did send it out on the 21st of December, but with the holidays, it might take longer. Still not here yet, and I really doubt I'll ever see it.

I got my gift certificate and then I got a letter asking me to remove phone-slam blocking from my telephone service so they could actually switch my account.
I guess I should do that one of these days, but I already used my gift certificate.
Phone slamming is when a telco changes your phone service without your permission. You can request a lock on your phone service to keep them from doing that.
