I could care less if he was sick or not..just telling you what i heard on The Tony Kornheiser show.

I'm just saying, if McNabb is the superstar that everyone makes him out to be... i think he should step up his game and elevate to the level of other superstars. Michael Jordan had some of his best games when he was feeling the worst.
Thats also what made MJ MJ. Not everyone can do those things.

yeah, not everyone is a superstar either

*stabs at McNabb*

He definitely looked off on some plays. He scrambled well a few times but the throws after the scrambles were always off. Didn't seem like he played to his full potential but I think the NE defense deserves a lot of credit. They always seemed to have 1-2 guys right on the doorstep - I felt PHI's pass protection was kinda average, maybe worse.

Seems like nerves to me.

At least we now know Freddie was actually doing something on Sunday.

McNabb can cry excuses all day. Doesn't change the simple fact he's a loser.

Yeah a loser with the 2nd best record in the league over the past 4 years, who has taken his team to the playoffs 5 straight.

He hasn't won when it mattered yet, and until then, his stats during the regular season mean crap.

um, in case you haven't noticed, nothing in this OT forum is important.

i know this i am just trying to figure out why this would need another thread when there are countless eagles, patriots superbowl threads that exist. but then again rehashing the sh1t is what ATOT does best.

Maybe we're not all nancyboys like you and care about football.

Did you finish that quilt on Sunday?

As far as the topic goes - excuses are just that, excuses. He failed his team, he failed his coach, and he failed himself. He lost the game for them.

I would have loved it if Rodney Harrison took that last INT and hand-delivered it to Freddie Mitchell on the sideline.

McNabb could have just looked off because he actually played an AFC team with a winning Record.. who did they beat in the AFC?

Cleveland, Baltimore

and the only other AFC teams they played were

Steelers (who they were crushed by)
and the bengals (who they didn't play their best players for)

...Face it... McNabb and the eagles haven't played a real team other than the steelers all year... at least until this past sunday.

Not being in good enough condition to play isn't an excuse for the pathetic game he had. If it was bad enough to warrant using it as an excuse, he shouldn't have been playing.

In any case, even if he was sick as hell, I don't think his game should have been as bad as it was, considering he was in the freaking superbowl.

Look at McNabb's stats. He has gotten better every year in the league, so what if he didn't win it his first time? How many times did it take Elway? Bottom line, McNabb is a champion, and any team minus the Colts would start him over their current QB.

Yes, a champion who hasn't yet won the only championship that really matters

Both players are "champions" in that they are highly skilled, but since neither have won the big prize, I don't really consider them champions. Sorry.

If you win your league (NFC/AFC), then you are a champion.

League championships are nothing compared to winning the big game. Few people remember the league champs, everyone remembers who came up big when it mattered most.

Look, I like McNabb, he's a very good QB, and I wish him luck in the future. But he's not a champ, IMO. Let's leave it at that.

I disagree

I like the improvisation of Vick
I like the consistancy of Brady
I like Culpeppers TD's thrown/yardage better.
I like Roethlisberger because it only took him a season to be a "champion"
I like Farve's resilliance and leadership

and here's a low blow...

I like Drew Bree's overall passer rating better.

with the exception of Bree's, I wouldn't start McNabb over any of those guys. I always thought that Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, James Lofton, Bruce Smith of the 90's Buffalo Bills were champions, and still do. However, no one else thinks of them as champions...

Point is:

he'll be a champion when he wins the big game. Until then, he's just a Jim Kelly.

I would start mcnabb over roethlisberger for sure. Depending on the circumstances and the team, perhaps vick as well. Culpepper I'm not sure, if it were the vikings then no way. Eagles, I guess. You'd have to be crazy to start mcnabb in place of favre. He may be old, but he is still a much better QB. He takes a lot of risks, which can make him look bad, that's the only real knock on him I can think of. Other than that ridiculous forward pass well past the line of scrimmage in their recent game.

Mike "150 ypg" Vick?
Brett "Interception" Favre? (also over the hill)
Ben "not even worth making up a nickname for" Roethlisberger?

I could see how you could argue Culpepper or Brady, but those other ones? Gimme a break

Lot of hating recently. McNabb is a damn fine QB who led his team to 2 AFC championships and the Super Bowl for chrissakes. Ever since the game a lot of idiots have come out of the woodwork saying that he sucks, is an avg QB, was carried by his defense, etc. He had no run support whatsoever in the game and despite his INTs (which came against a masterfully coached defense) he still had 350 yards and 3 TDs despite not playing at 100%.

He isnt a great qb . A very good one , but not a Montana .Montana is the bar which all qb's must be measured . The last minute drives, the impossible wins were all common place for Joe Montana .How soon we forget.
