MCSD Certification!

Does anybody have an MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer) certification? Its like the MCSE but more geared towards development as opposed to network and administration, etc. I'm out of work now. I have a bachelor's degree, a post-grad IT diploma, and a year's experience as an MS Web Developer and looking for work in my area sucks and when I got laid off I decided to get these. I'm going to do the two VB exams (desktop and distributed) plus the other core, and then as an elective either one of the SQL certs or Web developer with Visual Interdev.

Has anybody any insight into these? The way I'm seeing it now is that a year's experience plus the MCSD should look fairly attractive to an employer - all I really care about is an entry level job so I'm not looking for $70k.

Umm..lol. Where do you live? africa or something? lol..
With those qualifications, they give you a job and beamer here in silicon valley..
and you're saying you are out of work...jeez!
Hell, they pay $70k to a guy with a 1 year degree here.. You could as well make around 6 figures.. and I'm not kidding.

I'm in TN, and my friend with a MCP makes $65k.
No college at all.

Still, they pay that well in CA?
I figured that 90% of people in Cali had a MCSE

Are you familiar w/ VB, MTS, n-tier development, etc.? If not, I suggest getting experience in that arena prior to spending time on the cert. You should be able to find a job w/ your present skillset, and although an MCSD will help you, it won't compensate for experience.

MCSD is a rough cert. I'm still working on mine and I work w/ VB/VC++/ASP/MTS(COM+) heavily on a daily basis. I passed both the VB tests, and am waiting for them to qualify the test for SQL Server 2k.

Descartes, I have no MTS experience. I have worked with everything else - the problem is I live in Nova Scotia and the job market here really blows chunks. I'm not too scared about the VB, so I'll get both of those, then the other core...the elective shouldn't be too tricky either.
